Lovely ground floor holiday apartment in the beautiful lakeside village of Okareka. Surrounded by bush-clad hills, relax to the sound of Tui and other native birds.
Environmentally Friendly - Complimentary toiletries made with natural NZ ingredients and supporting NZ Forest and Bird.
A short stroll to the lakeside reserve with it's boat ramp, swimming beach and picnic area, or a short drive to Boyes Beach (very popular with the locals!)
Loads of great walking and mountainbike tracks on your doorstep and the famous Blue Lake just down the road with all of its sporting events.
A 10-15 minute drive to Rotorua with all of its attractions and great places to eat out.
Great fishing on Lake Okareka or a 10 minute drive the other way will take you to Lake Tarawera, with its stunning scenery and world famous trout fishing.

The house was tastefully presented, everything we needed for a two night stay was in there, the kitchen had all the utensils and equipment we needed in working condition and ready to use. (loved the coffee machine!! bonus!!)The bathroom was clean and well stocked. The linen and bedding was adequate. Heating was good. Really good place to stay with a small family. Tips: The lower bunk in the second bedroom needs some slats to hold up so good for kids but no so much for elderly/older people. Although, not very far from main shops etc, come prepared with food / groceries if you are planning to cook. The bathroom and toilets are accessible through the second bedroom (with bunk beds). so okay for a family with kids but if you are sharing with friends, make sure those you place in this room are prepared for night visitors :):) Really nice place, highly recommended, will definitely stay again if in Rotorua.

A cosy home away from home

A gorgeous cottage surrounded by nature with everything we needed. The heat pump and fluffy rugs were perfect as it was cool and rainy, and we had just left 40 degrees in Western Australia. The kitchen was well stocked and everything was nice and clean. I love my privacy so really appreciated the seclusion from the main house, although I think a greeting on arrival would be nice in this situation, when staying in accommodation attached to a main residence.

A perfect location and bucolic stay

This was a beautiful apartment. It was spacious and comfortable. The wifi worked well and the TV had a lot of choice. The bathroom was a little odd in its location as you had to go through the second bedroom to get to it but it was very clean and functional. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was a full kitchen (without a dishwasher) and immaculately clean. The coffee maker and selection of coffees was a lovely touch (thank you). The location was perfect for us to visit the lake and Rotorua. We enjoyed lovely walks around the lake and neighbourhood. The instructions were clear and accurate and we had absolute privacy. An excellent stay. We loved watching the birds and cats. We highly recommend this apartment..

Very quiet and abundant birdlife.

It was good to stay out of the big town of Rotorua though it was only a short drive away for groceries etc. The kitchen was well equipped, but the bathroom is accessible only through kids bedroom. The bathroom had a towel warmer which was nice. We highly recommend a visit to The Buried Village (nearby tourist attraction)

We loved it

Close to Okareka lake which my wife would go to each morning to watch the sunrise while the lazy father and son stayed in their beds. We did all do the glow worm kayaking tour on this lake which was amazing and highly recommended. When we looked at the online listing it wasn’t clear that the accommodation is attached to a house. But this didn’t effect our privacy at all. It’s a beautiful house with a close to nature feel about it while still being close to some great activities like the redwood tree walk. We loved sitting on the porch and having tūī and other birds pop over to feed on the bird feeder attached the garage. Thanks to the hosts. We appreciate it.
