Playa Cuajiniquil

The only reason I’m giving Riu Guanacaste one star is because it’s the only way I can post this review. I would give zero stars if I could. Costa Rica is absolutely beautiful, but unfortunately, our experience at Riu Guanacaste was very disappointing. Our group of 10 family and friends spent approximately $16,000 on this vacation, and we expected much better. The staff were often rude and unhelpful, the food was extremely salty and difficult to enjoy, and even getting a simple cup of coffee was a challenge. The elevator was not working, my room’s AC did not work properly, and we noticed cleanliness issues around the resort. We were also celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary, which I included in our reservation, but nothing was done to acknowledge it. Kindness is free. We treated the staff respectfully and generously tipped when we received good service, but unfortunately, the hospitality was often lacking. Thankfully, we booked excursions and were able to enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica outside the resort. Costa Rica was amazing. Riu Guanacaste was the disappointment. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves the guest experience.
