Highland Park Art House
This is a beautiful old house filled with really awesome art and collectibles that could be an amazing 5 star VRBO with just a few improvements. It’s newly renovated with some of the renovations having been done exceptionally well (ex. In one of the third floor bedrooms you can see whoever plastered the ceiling created a large sun shape with the texture… very cool!) Other renovations already need repair: one of the beds needs new supports under the mattress so the mattress doesn’t fall every time someone sits on the bed; the 2nd floor bathroom needs towel bar and glass shower shelf remounted; there were lots of dead houseplants on the 1st floor; may need to consider new internet service, we did not have internet our entire stay; gardens were mentioned in the write-up, but both front and back yards needed a lot of work. Backyard is described with a picnic table, but that was broken and off to the side. Kitchen was well set up and easy to use except for missing some oven mitts and dish rags. These are all fixable problems! Don’t know if the responsibility falls on the owner or the rental company. Our contact person with the rental company was easy to reach and I let her know about this stuff, but she wasn’t able to do anything about the problems during our stay. Like I said at the beginning, this place has the potential to be amazing!
