Disappointing Stay — Below Marriott Standards
As a loyal Marriott member, I was disappointed that my membership was neither recognized nor acknowledged during check-in. Despite booking through Expedia, I had expected the reception team to identify my membership via my email ID and extend the same level of service Marriott is known for.
Unfortunately, several issues made this stay fall short of expectations:
• Our breakfast details were misplaced, and we had to email and provide a screenshot to confirm them.
• The same issue occurred with parking details, which we also had to resend.
• The room was not well-maintained — there were visible wine stains on the carpet, a curtain hanging loose from one side, and a damaged room phone.
On the last day, even after informing reception in the morning about a linen change, we returned tired from travel to find the room exactly as we had left it. Although the team eventually offered a room change, it took over an hour to arrange.
Adding to the frustration, our deposit was deducted without any explanation or prior notice, and we are still awaiting clarification.
I have stayed at multiple Marriott properties, including an excellent 8-night stay at Le Méridien, Mauritius, last September. This experience, however, did not reflect the same consistency or service standards I associate with the Marriott brand.
