Stayed two nights here and arrived around 6pm on the first day by bus — Heda is a small town so taxis stop very early, I called the hotel and they sent a shuttle to come down and pick us up! They also offer to shuttle you places if you are not able to reserve meals, so if you plan to dine in the hotel definitely try and do it far ahead'

The staff was friendly and welcoming, and even tho we did not speak much Japanese, they were kind and patient with us and explained the amenities for us. 'We had a fantastic experience at this traditional Japanese ryokan in Shuzenji Onsen, said to be over 400 years old. Despite its age, the facilities and rooms were spotlessly clean and well maintained. We booked two suites, each with its own private onsen, which was perfect for relaxing.
