'The tents are a bit old, but OK. The camp looks super nice in the evening, the have petroleum lights everywhere and a fire. Staff always tries to help you and the food is really good. One big downside. There is a hotel next to the camp. During the safari they arranged for us we had a great guide and spotted two leopards! They play very loud music whenever they want. Our last night from 23:30 untill 05:00, so we hardly could sleep. I called the manager but he could not stop the music...'

' Absolutely amazing hotel! The rooms are clean and big. A great pool and you are very close to Yala national park. However the chef Pradeep was absolutely the highlight of our stay. The food he served was also good. Since we are not from Sri Lanka he took the time to explain what he uses, and how they look. Het also gave great recommendations. But the staff was also very nice, very helpful. Even the Peacock that resides was nice!'

'Yala Safari Camping is such an incredible & unique experience. The tents are so nice, the staff is beyond incredible. I stayed as a solo female traveler back in December and I felt so safe and taken care of. They help coordinate two safaris for me during my stay. The wifi wasn’t working while I was there so they gave me a hotspot to borrow while I was staying so I could keep up with work calls and emails. '

'A special place close to Yala that makes you feel like you’re in the park. Small staff was so friendly and lovely, and I felt well taken care of. Delicious meals—often candlelit and with an outdoor grill. Room was air conditioned and well appointed, despite the jungle setting. Only caution: there probably will be some wildlife in your bathroom! They also organized my safaris in the park, as well as pick ups and drop-offs, which I appreciated.'

'This hotel is our usual place to stay when we go to Kataragama with the whole family. It’s very welcoming and a happy place to stay for the night. Very clean and food is great.'

'hotel ligt mooi aan het strand. kamers zijn wel groot evenals de badkamer, maar kwaliteit kan beter. restaurant is prima eten voor schappelijke prijs. ontbijtbuffet en dinerbuffet zijn prima verzorgd. de gym is nogal klein. zwembad is prima maar bedden zijn te hard en er is geen kussen op het bed. personeel is behulpzaam.'

'Exceptional experience. The hotel itself was stunning, the staff incredible and the food and drinks fantastic. Very children friendly but also a lively happy hour and bar. The quality of the hotel finishings were top tier. Highly recommend. The safari was great too - and with the hotel location the long line at 6am to get into the national park is avoided!'

'The stay was amazing. From the moment we walked in we were warmly greeted by the owners of the property who showed exceptional hospitality. The room was really nice and clean with an amazing view of the surroundings. The food was 10/10 with a selection of both local and international options. The owners helped with arranging a jeep for the safari and were ready to help with any other requests. I would highly recommend staying at the property if you’re going for the Yala Jungle Safari. '

'Wat een leuk en spannend hotel! Als je aan het zwembad ligt zie je de wilde buffels een paar meter verder in het water liggen, af en toe zagen we zelfs een krokodil voorbij zwemmen. Zelfs in het hotel kan je dus wilde dieren spotten. De kamers zijn zeer aangenaam en ruim. Het ontbijt was top, er was een ruime keuze van zowel de lokale als de westerse keuken. Wij zijn fan van dit hotel, zeker een aanrader !'

'All in all, happy to stay here, just be prepared to do a lot of extra work to check-in. The location is incorrectly indicated on Facebook, TripAdvisor & hotels.com, and is 10km north of Tissa. Easily accessed by public transit if you've got the correct address. Make sure they know you're coming, as they were unaware I had made the reservation. If you can't find their phone #, try them on Facebook, or worst case scenario, go to to their Tile & Bathroom Shop, next to Sampath Bank... Don't...

'The manager and staff were super nice which is really what made our stay. They went over and beyond to make us comfortable. The facilities are average but some of it does need an update as the A/C units are really loud and the curtains aren't in great condition. Also the Wi-Fi didn't work in the rooms and so to use Wi-Fi you need to go to the common area which in the evenings gets a TON of mosquitoes so that wasn't idea. But the pool was nice and landscaping was well-maintained. '
