MOUNTAIN JOY COTTAGES #10- BIG BEAR

Mountain Joy Cottage #10, Big Bear, is decorated in a bear theme. This romance cottage is equipped with a jacuzzi tub.

Originally the homestead of Maggie Setzer, for whom Maggie Valley was named, the land that Mountain Joy sits is a special place. You will become enchanted with it’s mountain charm, family atmosphere and character. We offer all the modern conveniences you would expect with the year-round access and seclusion that very few can offer.

Enjoy the peaceful country setting of our cottages. We have one, two and four bedroom cottages all equipped with wood burning fireplaces, cable TV, internet and kitchens ready to cook a home made meal. Outside the porches have rocking chairs so you can enjoy your morning coffee or enjoy the sunset on the mountains in the evening. Our glass enclosed outdoor pool (seasonal) offers a delightful place to relax.

Mountain Joy Cottages are centrally located in the heart of Maggie Valley just one block up Setzer Cove Road with easy access to all of the area attractions. We are just minutes off of the Scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The area is loaded with craft, antique and gift shops. The great outdoors offers horseback riding, golf on area mountain courses, trout fishing in streams, white water rafting and scenic drives. Snow skiing and tubing is available for the entire family at Cataloochee Ski Area. Nightlife includes everything from Jazz to Bluegrass, clogging or dinner entertainment. Our cottages are just a short drive to the Great Smoky Mountain Railway, Asheville and The Biltmore Estate, Cherokee and the Indian Reservation and Harrah’s Casino and historic downtown Waynesville.

Whatever the season, Mountain Joy Cottages and the Great Smokies have something very special to offer. From the wildflowers of spring, to the blaze of colors in the fall or the serenity of winter, come visit and make lasting memories at Mountain Joy Cottages.

The trees from the porch was blocking most of the view. The bed was hard not enough hot water. There were also spider webs in the bathroom right around the window. I have to say it was in a good location close to everything.

The cabin was cute, its an older cabin but still had charm. There are ELK that wander through the yard and eat apples off of the tree right there in front of you!!!!! Absolutely Amazing!

This is our second time in this unit. Very quiet location on the pond. Very nice location for a couples weekend getaway. Enjoyed the hot tub and comfortable bed. Wood burning fireplace is a nice touch as well. Bring your own food, as there isn't a good reliable restaurant in Maggie Valley. Unit was very clean upon arrival.

Our two night stay was wonderful. This was our second time staying in this cabin. The cabin was clean. There were plenty of linens. We enjoyed being lazy and sitting around the fireplace. The bed was comfy and extra pillows and blankets were provided.The office staff were kind when we arrived. We can't wait to stay again 😊

Great cabin getaway

It was our second time staying here & we very much enjoyed our time. Prior to our trip, we did message the property managers asking questions but never received any answers. The cabin was very clean except for some dirty dishes & cutlery (dried food, etc) that we had to clean ourselves before they could be used. Suggestions would be to upgrade the blinds so that all could be opened (missing parts) & microwave to higher power model. Refrigerator also could be upgraded for a more aesthetically pleasing vibe (it looked like ALOT of mold on the outside of the fridge). Overall, we enjoyed our stay & hope to return in the future!

Beautiful place. Enjoyed drinking my morning coffee on the porch seeing the pond and ducks. This morning we saw two Elks that came right up to the back porch where we were. Enjoyed the hot tub. We will definitely be back.

Great place and great location!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Close to many attractions and restaurants. I personally loved the ducks, they would come visit in the morning and when we got back at the end of the day. We enjoyed feeding them each day.

Cozy Cabin

The cabin and the area is beautiful. The cabin was clean and tastefully decorated. There were only two metal clothes hangers available in the closet and the three spare bed pillows had no pillowcases. The pillows on the bed need to be replaced. There is no dresser to store clothing. I enjoyed watching the ducks while having coffee in the morning. A cow elk walked past one evening. I hope to return next year.

Don't even have to go out to see Elk

When we arrived on Friday we were greeted by a visiting Elk and daily visited by resident ducks. The place is quiet, cozy and perfect for couples. Only real complaint is the lack of hot water. It started off fine but ran out quick. Couldn't fill the hot tub without running out.

Clean and perfect for a weekend get away.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend get away. Cabin was perfect for 2 people. Very clean, well kept. Perfect spot to be away from the road but close enough to get to things quickly and easily.
