Charming, secluded, characterful cottage in the heart of Lechlade

This cottage with its many original features, including beams, wooden floorboards and fireplace, has a log burning stove and is ideal for a cosy, romantic break or for those who love idyllic walks by the river.

It is a two-minute walk to the intriguing antique shops and pubs, restaurants and cafes. Visit the impressive church in the centre of Lechlade, which inspired Shelley or the ancient church in Inglesham (approximately one mile away) which features restoration by William Morris. In addition, several stunning honey-coloured stone villages and National Trust houses of note (for which the Cotswolds is so famous) are only a few minutes' drive away.

The cottage is located down a secluded path, just off a no-through road where there is free, safe parking.

Beneath the famous "Halfpenny Bridge" lies the Riverside Restaurant which is a great place to watch for water birds, have a relaxing drink or meal or hire a boat for a trip up the river.

Gezellig verblijf

We hebben genoten van onze 2 dagen in the Cotswolds. Er stond een fles prosecco en doosje koekjes klaar met een aardig kaartje bij het inchecken. Het was een schattige cottage op een rustige locatie.

A lovely cottage in the neighbourhood of the Cotswolds. We liked to eat in the garden, to explore the surroundings of the Cotswolds and the Thames and the kitchen is well equipped. There is a washing machine and a dryer.

Cosy en centraal gelegen cottage

Voor ons doel (familiebezoek) was de cottage, midden in het dorp, fijn. De inrichting was heel gezellig, voldoende opbergruimte en mooie ruime slaapkamers.

Gezellig , knus huisje in gemoedelijk dorp aan de rivier.

We hebben een genoeglijke week gehad in dit knusse huisje, dat voor ons tweetjes groot genoeg was. Voor 4 personen zou het wat aan de krappe kant geweest zijn! Het huisje was van alle gemakken voorzien, we hebben niets gemist. Het keukentje was wat aan de krappe kant, met name als je er ook zou moeten eten. Het was even geleden dat de afzuigkap en de wasmachine een grondige reiniging hadden ondergaan. We hebben het getroffen met het weer: Met stip de warmste week van de afgelopen laatste decennia. De tuin gaf voldoende schaduw en aan de Theems vonden we ook volop verkoeling. De slaapkamers waren koel.

Klein authentiek huisje maar van alle gemakken voorzien. Alles dichtbij en een geweldige plek om als uitvalsbasis te dienen voor een prachtige omgeving.

Altough a bit small for 4 persons especially when eating. Its a very nice cottage. Well equipped, beautifull restored and great atmospheer. Village has all essential shops en services. We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage , with a small , sunny garden in Lechlade. Comfy beds, very peaceful. Well equipped . Plenty local shops and a few pubs, easy walk to river. Small path off road to property.

Lovely little cottage stay

We had a great time in this two bed, with one bath cottage. The rooms were comfortable, with the twin room having plenty of space (I had been worried it was right when I looked at photos). Welcome treats were a lovely touch. Julia’s communication was excellent. My only suggestion would be to enable stand up hands-free showering by having an attachment for the shower hose head to clip into the wall and a shower curtain. Access is a bit restricted due to the need to go 30m down a little pebbled path to get to the property.

Amazing cottage in great location!

Myself and a friend stayed for a couple weeks over Christmas and New Years. Having never been to the Cotswolds before, this was in a great location! It was an easy walk to the high street and many great shops to easily get groceries. We highly recommend the nearby Lynwood & Co for breakfast and coffee. From Lechlade we were an easy drive to all the major Cotswold towns - Stowe on the Wold, Burton on the Water, Burford and many more. Oxford and Blenheim Palace were also close by. Julia and Benjamin were amazing hosts who responded quickly to any questions we had. The cottage itself was ideal for us. We each had our own room and the beds and bedding were very comfortable. We had a fire almost every day in the cozy sitting room. The cottage had everything we needed in the kitchen as well as some great extras like a dish washer and washer and dryer - so helpful! We’d definitely stay again and highly recommend this property!

Wonderful little cottage in Lechlade!

The cottage was gorgeous. It was small, personal and comfy. Everything we needed for our 4 night stay. We explored Lechlade, went to several pubs and ate out, as well as cooked in the cottage. I did lots of sketching, and went fishing with my boys. It was a great short break. Julia's property was perfect.

Great cottage and location

Our second stay here and as great as the first time. Very close to shops and cafes/pubs and even a playground for children. The cottage is clean and had everything you need, including a beautifully kept garden. Great value for a weekend in the countryside!

We really liked the cottage, it was perfect for us as two friends together. We really appreciated the little extras that were left. It was very quiet although central to Lechlade. Parking was in the street but we found somewhere each day for two cars. Highly recommend this cottage

Relaxing and charming short break

We hadn’t come far, just from Oxfordshire but we wanted a short break which didn’t require hours of driving. Lechlade didn’t disappoint! A charming olde-worlde cottage but with all the modern amenities you could want. We appreciated the log burner as it is February. We did some fabulous walks with our little dog, including one to Kelmscott along the meandering River Thames. We ate at the New Wave fish restaurant on Saturday and highly recommend it, particularly if you’re a fish lover! Julia was helpful and swift to reply to one or two questions we had. The shower attachment over the bath didn’t bother us as we’re happy to have baths. We would love to return one day!
