I booked this hotel for two nights but couldn’t stay for the second because the room had no real heating. In the middle of winter in South Lake Tahoe, all they offer is a tiny wall “fireplace” that looks decorative and gives off almost no heat. It was so cold we couldn’t take off our jackets.
I contacted the hotel because we literally could not stay in that temperature. I asked to move rooms, and they admitted in writing that every room has the same setup with no actual heater. They didn’t offer a solution until I asked if they at least had a space heater. They sent a small one that barely helped, but it was late so we tried to get through the night.
I told them in writing that I would check out early and request a refund for the second night. They acknowledged this, and the next morning they confirmed my checkout and asked if I locked the door. But when Expedia contacted them, they denied that I checked out early. After being shown screenshots proving everything, the hotel changed their story and bizarrely claimed I had been “talking to AI.” They still refused the refund.
On top of that, the bed covers were covered in hair—human and pet hair mixed together. Not a few strands, but visibly all over the bedding.
Freezing rooms, unsanitary bedding, and complete dishonesty when confronted with proof. Avoid this place at all costs.
