The Space:

Back of Beyond Cottage lives up to its name - a low-key, three-bedroom retreat tucked into the quiet lakeside community at Lake Rotoehu, where the biggest decision each morning is fishing rod or kayak paddle. The lake and its prime trout spots are a short stroll from the door, and the covered deck is built for long lunches after a day on the water.

The covered outdoor area is the heart of the place - dining, shade and shelter whatever the weather - opening onto a garden with outdoor seating. The barbecue grill is ready to go, and the lake is just a short walk away.



- PARKING -

Heaps of off-street parking at the property, with plenty of room for boats and trailers.



Guest Access:

You have the entire holiday home to yourselves - the full kitchen, living areas, all three bedrooms and the bathroom, plus the garden, outdoor seating, BBQ and the kayaks. The lake foreshore is a short walk away. Come and settle in.



The Neighborhood:

Back of Beyond sits in the peaceful lakeside community of Lake Rotoehu, one of the quieter jewels in Rotorua's chain of lakes - clear water, native bush and some of the region's best rainbow trout fishing right on your doorstep. It's a true unplug-and-recharge spot, with friendly locals and little more than birdsong for company. Rotorua's headline attractions are an easy drive away: the Redwoods Forest at around 35 minutes, then Te Puia's geysers and the lakefront hot pools at Polynesian Spa and Wai Ariki Spa about 40 minutes on, with Skyline's gondola and luge, Canopy Tours and Zorb a little further west again.



Getting Around:

You'll want your own vehicle here - public transport doesn't reach this part of the lakes. It's a scenic 25-minute run to Rotorua Airport along State Highway 30, and around 35-40 minutes into central Rotorua and its attractions. There's heaps of parking at the property for cars, boats and trailers.



Other Things to Note:

WIFI runs at around 487 Mbps. Lake Rotoehu is a prized trout fishery - a New Zealand fishing licence is required and is quick and easy to sort online before you arrive. Mobile coverage can be patchy this far out, which is rather the point of a back-of-beyond escape.
