'Very friendly owners with good tips for what to do in and outside Hokitika. Good location for day trips. Very comfortable bed, clean room. Large desk if you would like to write or sit at a computer. '

'WARNING: only hotel in the world with a 16:00 check in. If you can’t be bothered to staff the hotel at least leave a key box like every other hotel. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to waste waiting for 16:00 so checked into the Beachfront hotel in town for the same price and standard check in. '

'While we only stayed one night here, it was the perfect location to get away from the noise of town traffic yet very close to Hokitika and right on the way to the Hokitika Gorge. There were only two of us but perfect spot for family with children or couples travelling together. '

'We loved our stay in the Blackhouse Cottage, and wished we could have stayed longer. It was gorgeously appointed and well set out. The beds were super comfortable and we were snug and warm in the cold. So cozy and the perfect place to unwind and relax. We would stay here again and again. '

'Owen (host) took the time to meet us there, show us around and provided us with complimentary cereals, toast, fruit, fresh milk and juice. Each room was eqipped with a large TV and ensuit bathroom. Couldn't fault the cleanliness , decor and comfort. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here. '
