'We did not receive an email with check inn details. Staf could not be reached, not by phone and no answer on email. The cottage is outdated and too cold inside. You can feel the wind inside! Good location but ridiculously overpriced and non-exisiting communication. No wifi available. Avoid this place!'

'Very nice cottage. Comfortable with all desired amenities. Great place to get away and feel closer to the surroundings. Only caution is on warm days, the cottage has no AC and can get very warm.'

'Lovely cabin :well appointed: comfortable bed. But long drive from town 28km and half of it is (currently) a gravel road. It’s a beautiful place. We walked across field to waterfall. Views of the volcano. Nice respite but know you have a drive from the highway/town'

'We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The only downside was that it felt a bit chilly, and we couldn’t find any instructions on how to adjust the heating. The property is quite remote, so we strongly recommend using a 4x4 vehicle to avoid getting stuck in a snowstorm, as we nearly did. Despite this, we highly recommend this property—it’s a fantastic place to stay!'

'If you like being out of the way Afternoon Cottages is a great jumping off point for adventuring. It is well equipped and very clean. It has a great price point and very basic. It worked great for us because it was simply a place to cook dinner and sleep. You have access to all the necessities about 25 minutes away in Hella. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.'

'I cannot recommend this property enough! We visited for 8 days in late June/early July 2026, and the view from the wrap-around glass patio was breathtaking every single day, morning and evening. Because of the shape of the valley, we would routinely see completely different weather patterns West, North, and East. Maybe it was snowing on the mountain across the lake, raining at the property, and sunny out West... all at the same time!It's only a 25-30min drive West to Akranes to pick up groceries...
