Whispering Pines is a pet friendly cabin (fur babies are free!) with a completely enclosed fenced backyard that is located one mile from town center. This is a listing from owners of a sister cabin, Peaceful Pines, which is located less than a half mile away and is listed on both VRBO (75 5 star reviews) and the competitive site (166 reviews at an average of 4.98 out of 5 stars). The owners live less than 1/2 mile from the property and are available if needed. Whispering Pines has been updated to give renter’s a nice, clean, cabin experience with the best in host support and their availability. Great place. From the warm, cozy environment, to the huge yard, that my doggies loved. The bed was just right for this Goldilocks with back arthritis. The heater/fireplaces in the bedroom and livingroom were perfect for setting a mood and warmth. The location is great for a trip to town and also for a trip to Palm Desert. I grew up in the Poconos in Pennsylvania and this charmer took me back in time to childhood memories. Thanks for that. I’ll be back.

We’ve stayed here several times now and it’s where we’ll continue to stay when we visit. It’s always clean and comfortable, quiet, and a nice backyard for the pup. it’s close to town and you can take a short walk to a coffee / breakfast spot down the road in the morning. It’s a perfect place to stay.

Host is awesome, quick to respond, accommodating, and informative. Chose this place for my pup because it has an enclosed back yard. I mention the following, which is subjective, because it would have been info I'd have liked. The place feels a little overpriced for what you get. Located on a main road of the neighborhood, so slightly more street noise than I would have preferred. "Firewood" pile in the back, is exactly that, a messy pile that definitely needs cleaning up and organizing. I didn't even see a tarp cover that is mentioned for it to be covered.As per a review I read about not being able to get the place warm enough. There is a thermostat heater in the living room, a real wood fireplace in the kitchen, a heater in the bathroom and two individual heaters in the bedroom. At one point I got so warm in the bedroom, I had to turn one of them off, and the other on low.

We had a wonderful stay. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. It was cozy without feeling cramped, and the location was close to town while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. The beds were very comfortable, and we especially loved that our furbaby was able to run around and enjoy the backyard. Communication with the host was easy and clear, and they provided great recommendations on where to eat and sip nearby. Overall, it was a great weekend getaway and we would absolutely stay here again.

We truly recommend staying at Whispering Pines. Our little family of 4 decided to get away from the busy city life and spend Christmas 2025 in Idyllwild. This cabin was the perfect place! It was rustic, cozy, beautiful and fully equipped. Everything we wished for and more! Jay was an amazing host. He gave us great recommendations. Communication was great throughout our trip. We will definitely stay again in the future!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful, and your cabin was charming & homey in the best possible way. Our two little terriers loved the big backyard (10 times bigger than ours at home) and we all delighted in watching the scrubjays and squirrels from the deck. Pet friendly - but keep in mind that there are stairs leading to the yard so if you have an older dog or a dog with a hip issues that might be an issue- BUT you can go around the side of the house and you will only have a few steps. Nice cabin , quiet neighborhood. Jay is great to communicate with.
