The location, river/dunes/ocean view, and amenities can’t be beat! We played in the dunes and hunted for sea glass and shells with our two young boys for hours, just a short row from the backyard. We enjoyed the kayaks, fire pit, and views out of every window and yard space. The beds are very comfortable and warm. We had magical days filled with many memories. Cathy was also super communicative and offered us suggestions for an awesome ocean bike path. The reason for the 4-star marking is the critters and smell of the water, which were not disclosed in the booking. I only later found comments about these when we searched low rated reviews. The water smelled like sulfer every time it was used, I’m sure due to the well; we just weren’t expecting it. There were spiderwebs, spiders, pill bugs, and ants in the house. We worked around it, but it was more than most expect. There was also evidence of old mouse droppings between the bed in the living room and the wall. These are all nothing a deep clean every couple of months can’t address. I would pay more for our booking if the funds went toward deep cleans of the house and more frequent pest treatments. We would definitely return, but more prepared for that part of the stay by bringing a sealed bin for our pantry food and hope that a good deep clean had taken care of webs and insects.
