Sign up for surfing or paddleboard lessons at one of the various rental companies on the island. You'll be half a mile from downtown Folly Beach, a city known of its many beach activities such as swimming, surfing, fishing, beachcombing, and boating. A short 11.5-mile drive will take you to historic downtown Charleston where you can enjoy shopping and fine dining. If you decide to visit Charleston, you must visit The Battery, a stretch along the city’s southern tip, which features a row of Southern-style mansions.
