'For our first time experiencing a Ryokan Onsen as a family of 4, we wanted to experience one of the best in Kurokawa. And Gekkoju does not disappoint! The room was beautiful and spacious with a lot included. The staff helping us was super friendly and accommodating. The service and food was amazing. The indoor and outdoor onsen that is private to our room was fantastic and personally we thought it was much better than hiking up to go to the prebooked outdoor sky terrace onsen, especially at...

'This is a ryokan where the rooms have been updated but the onsen baths are still original, as is most of the town. The staff was extremely helpful. The cooks were very accommodating for gluten and dairy allergies, the breakfasts and dinners were delicious. There are two private baths you can reserve in addition to the male and female baths. The town is cute, you can walk all around it in a half hour, plus time for soft serve and coffee.'

'Our stay was an absolute pleasure, a truly authentic Japanese countryside retreat. Nestled on the outskirts of a small village in Kyushu’s breathtaking rural landscape, the property offers a peaceful and experience. Our traditional Japanese-style room overlooked a beautiful garden, with a stream flowing just beyond it. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and went above and beyond throughout our stay to ensure we were comfortable and relaxed. We chose to have both breakfast...

'Roomy, self-contained cabin in the hills above Kurakawa Onsen with private spring-fed bath. Great base for exploring the Aso-Kuju region.'
