'If you’re looking for peace and quiet you found it. I sat out on the porch and just looked at the pond. Turned off the cell relaxed and enjoyed the view. The host was very accommodating. The home look just like the pictures and when I arrived the air conditioning was going which was great when your from California and not used to the hot sticky summers in Southern Illinois.'

'When we arrived, the house REEKED of cigarette smoke. We had to air the house out the entire first day and we could still smell it on the towels and faintly in the air. Clearly, the people before us did not follow the rules. We notified the host right away - he was very responsive. He had a cleaning lady come over; not much she could do, but she did bring a lighter so we could light some of the candles at least. Other than the smoke smell, the house was fine and as advertised. 'Nice place. We cooked meals inside on the stove but also over a fire at the fire pit. There is a small creek behind the cabin that runs when it rains out. That was pretty cool. No nearby light pollution so the sky is really dark at night and you can see a lot of stars. Overall a great experience. Two wineries close by. It's on the wine trail. Close to everything in Southern Illinois. We went to all the state parks.'
