Overall, our stay in Catia' s house was very good and we had a great time here. The house is located on a quiet dead-end street in Prazeres. Catia was not there to welcome us, we could pick up the keys from a safe in front of the house. At first it was not clear that we had rented the pink house in the back yard, because it is not visible from the road.
It seemed that the house had been not occupied for a while, because there was mold in the kitchen and on the rubbers of the fridge. This was solved quickly by Catia and her husband: The house got another cleaning round by the cleaning lady and even a brand new fridge. They also bought more kitchen equipment such a (frying) pans to accommodate us. Unfortunately, not even the thorough cleaning could mask the smell of mold in the cupboards of the kitchen during the rest of our holiday.
We loved the well maintained big garden and the easy access (10 minutes by car) to the Calheta beach. The house is spacious enough for 2 persons, nice bathroom and bedroom. There's a big BBQ to use as well.
The first week was completely quiet and peaceful, when the main house next door was apparently rented to two elderly Germans, who we hardly saw or heard. The last week the main house was rented to two french families with a lot of kids. Since the two houses are adjacent, with only a small wall with glass separating them, it was not so quiet and peaceful anymore, which was a pity. So depending on other people renting the house next door, this can be a private and quiet holiday location or quite a noisy one.
A dishwasher was listed among the amenities, but it was not present.
Prazeres turned out to be a good central location for hiking on the west side of the island. We did two hikes starting at the house.
