Great Get-away at the OBX

We had planned an end-of-year getaway to decompress and this house was the perfect solution. Located right on the water, it had great views, plenty of room to spread out, and was conveniently located to restaraunts, bakeries and a grocery store. The house was clean, the kitchen was well stocked and the deck provided wonderful views of the dolphins, pelicans and other beach life.

Excellent house for group

Six of us met at this house for Christmas and had an excellent experience. The location is perfect. The interior is also perfect for a group our size. Enough room so that no one feels cramped and a perfect living room, dining room, kitchen area. The host is really wonderful and answered all of our questions and is very friendly. Highly recommend this house!

Multi generational family stay

Cannot beat the views! But the rooms and bathrooms are poorly designed and maintained. The hot tub did not stay hot, there was no grill brush, there were ants everywhere in the kitchen, and not enough deck chairs for a house that size

Beautiful views!

This property was amazing! The views are out of this world, and the binoculars were an extra fun touch! The entire back half of the house is glass, so you can see for miles. There was so much there to accommodate the guests. Just bring your food, and you are all set! Would definitely recommend the property!

Enjoyed our week

It was a nice home with lots of room. Great location near many conveniences. But … the water pressure in master suite was awful and took a good 2 minutes to get hot. Hot tub leaves a lot to be desired. And there were ants in the kitchen. Overall good experience but think it was overpriced for what it was.

OBX road trip

4 adult couples traveled from Northwest Wisconsin to the Wuthering Dunes on a bucket list vacation. We were very satisfied with this home, it was just as advertised, just yards from the ocean. Areca was excellent to work with, quickly responding to our questions when we arrived. She took the time to suggest local attractions and restaurants knowing we didn't want to do too much additional driving! This was a lovely place for a layed back visit to the ocean.

Excellent stay!

My husband and I stayed a few days as we needed a change of scenery during the pandemic. The house was beautiful and extremely roomy. We loved the multiple decks and were able to see both the sunrise and sunset from the Master bedroom. The kitchen has everything you need and our walks on the beach each day were very relaxing. We would definitely stay here again, although next time we will bring some friends (post Covid). Areca was very communicative throughout the entire booking process.

Right on the beach! Very comfortable, clean & convenient!

That was the fastest week in my life! I loved taking in the salt air & the crashing surf without ever leaving the house! Of course actually getting in the warm water, literally just steps away, was icing on the cake. Thank you for opening your home to our group; we all enjoyed it tremendously.

Beautiful architecture!

House is absolutely gorgeous inside. Incredibly spacious, clean, just stunning! Huge primary suite and great-room. The ocean views from from every level are perfect! Very close to Hatteras light house, 4WD beaches, The Point, and more. Great shelling and fishing with miles of unspoiled beach front. Incredibly close to grocery stores, restaurants, beach shops, etc. More laid back rural vibe compared to the Corolla/Carova area where we normally stay. Avon seems like the place to be for fishing! We had a great time and would rent this beautiful home again without hesitation.

Perfect Family Getaway—Spacious, Clean, and Steps from the Beach

We had an incredible stay! The house was extremely spacious everyone had their own room and bathroom, which made it so relaxing. The beds and sheets were clean, the kitchen and dining room were roomy, and there were even extra spaces we didn’t use, like the sunroom and cozy nooks. The master suite was my favorite waking up to the sunrise from the balcony while sipping coffee was a dream. The beach was just steps from the backyard, which made it easy to take our Husky, Aspen, out without worry (we just rinsed her paws after). We never even turned on the TV or used the hot tub because we were too busy enjoying the views and peaceful vibe. The only suggestion: more blankets would have been helpful. Everything worked great, and having a washer/dryer was a bonus. We’d absolutely return!

Wonderful views

The house is large and comfortable. Every room has a deck access. The views are amazing. The house has 7 televisions. One in every bedroom , the main living space and one in the extra porch room, however only three of them had a working connection. There was also an issue with debris falling from ceiling.

It’s a very beautiful home, I was just concerned about the mold in the air system, it was in every vent. Blacked mold is not good for anyone’s health. Luckily we only stayed there for a week but still. There was some stuff that was broken and the outside chairs were not the best but I understand why people who rent their homes don’t want to buy nicer things because people break them. Maybe also have stairs to the beach, I had elderly ladies with me and it was hard on them to get to the beach. We enjoyed the basketball court till the storm broke it.

Mediocre stay

The location of this property was perfect! Right on the beach, you can't beat that. The aesthetics of the property were underwhelming. Everything worked properly and there were plenty of kitchen necessities but the kitchen drawers were dirty and could use some attention. I guess the decor was just what we're not used to when spending this much money on a property. It was very dated for the most part and could use some updating in general. We had fun and I know the decor shouldn't matter when spending time with friends and family but when you're used to something more updated, it becomes a let down. The decks and chairs were amazing to spend time just watching the ocean and beach. There were many pluses with this beach front property as well.

There were several areas of uncleanliness. The bunk beds had dead bugs in them and the shower curtain had mold on the clear liner. The hot tub had black mold in it. None of the tv remotes had any batteries. Otherwise it was a beautiful home with amazing views!

Fall Break

The house was very clean & well maintained. It lives up to the pictures online. I don’t think you could be any closer to the ocean. Areca was great! Checked in on us multiple times. My wife and I took our 3 daughters and 4 of their friends. All 17-22. Plenty of room in the house for the 9 of us. This was our 1st trip to the Outer Banks but, it won’t be our last. The beaches are beautiful. The kids swam in the ocean everyday, despite being the end of October. The hot tub was a hit after a swim. The house is Within walking distance to Food Lion grocery store. Not overpriced, well stocked. Couple of restaurants in the same plaza. I would stay at the residence again and would recommend for others George Family

Views, surf, dolphins

This is a fabulous property. We were five friends over 60 years old so the five bedrooms and wonderful common areas were perfect. The seating was comfortable and plentiful, and it was nice to have a dining table where we all could easily share a meal. More than anything, the decks overlooking the ocean on every level were the highlight. We saw dolphins and one morning half a dozen deer wandered by on the beach. This house has a large, well-equipped kitchen which is good since during off-season there were not many options for dining out. The Food King is within walking distance and there’s an ABC store in Buxton. We found a little seafood market in Hatteras called Harbor Seafood Market that we highly recommend. We also recommend the Cockeyed Clam. It was pricey but the food was fantastic. Areca was wonderful! She made sure we had everything we needed, touched base with us daily and was charming. Withering Dunes more than met our needs. We definitely would consider coming back here.

Great Views, Location and Family Spaces!

This was our first time staying in OBX and we were immediately taken with the beautiful views from the property and the great, uncrowded beach! We were a family of 10 including 6 adults and 4 children and this property is well suited to a large family. The kitchen is well equipped and the living area has plenty of comfortable seating. There is a separate private porch room that is perfect for those that needed to work. There are plenty of kids beach toys and chairs and we found Island Cycle Rentals that had a great beach shade tent that we rented for only $55 for the week. The location of the property was perfect for Avon as it was peaceful and yet a short walk to the pool (not crowded at all due to the fact that many kids were already back in school). Really close to grocery, bakery and restaurants too. It could use a deep cleaning but I realize that since we were there in mid-August we were seeing the remnants of a summer of constant rentals. The property is fairly priced and the manager was very responsive. Bottom line is that the location, layout and amenities in this house make it a great choice for large families.
