'Excellent place to stay in Amherst, whether or not you’re visiting the university. Good food choices just an elevator ride away, plus many other choices at the other UMASS dining options. The breakfast is Continental plus waffles, and it features and non-gluten choices. The pastries are cut above what you expect from most hotels.'

'Traveled here for a work trip, felt very safe as a woman alone. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Check in was also very easy! My room was very clean. Would highly recommend to any solo travelers!!'

'The historic Inn is beautifully maintained and updated and provides a unique experience of staying in a home dating back to the 1600's. Breakfast was delicious and Megan the cook was welcoming and helpful. We always stay at the Black Walnut Inn when in Amherst!'

'Vijay and Emma are newer owners of this hidden gem. The entire property has been upgraded. Immaculate, fresh bed linens and towels, washcloths etc. Also, my room had a refrigerator which I did not anticipate. That was definitely a plus!'

'Price was very reasonable. It is a problem that there is most of the time no one in the office. Thus, it is really difficult to address issues, particularly in the evening. The TV went out in the evening, and we decided not to bother anyone. Bed was excellent. Location is quiet. Coffee in the office is great, but it would be better in the room. Suggest installing better clothes hanging capability in room. Overall, good value.'

'Hair dryer was nowhere to be found (but holder was still on the wall.) When checking in to my room, I found raisins on the desk chair (which had badly torn seat.) If it wasn't so late, I would have let left. Front desk staff were NOT available during stated hours. A neighbor in a nearby room locked himself out of his room accidentally and we both tried calling for assistance, to no avail. (At that point I REALLY wish I had left!)'

'The host was on site when we arrived and greeted us graciously and efficiently. The room was clean and spacious, with a beautifully renovated bathroom (Room 5). The bed was a bit soft for our taste, but comfortable. There was no place to hang clothes, but there was plenty of drawer space in the bureau and bed stands. The reservation portal indicates the room has a hair dryer and a microwave oven, but it does not. They are still in renovation mode, so the outer appearance of the property still...

'It was a perfect place to stay for one of Treehouse Brewing's summer concert. Comfortable rooms with great AC. Easy, convenient parking. Every staff member was very nice.'

'My favorite place to stay in Amherst! You’re right on the village Green, a few blocks from the Dickinson Homestead, top-notch restaurant on site, wonderful Staff, great shower, comfy beds. We spent the evening chatting and reading by the fire in the communal living room. 10 out of 10.'

'We only stayed for one night, but we found that the Inn exceeded our expectations. It was a beautiful historic site, and the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff were as expected from the other reviews of the property. I was traveling with my daughter who has celiac disease, and the Inn was able to provide her with a lovely GF option for breakfast that was as delightful as the rest of the offerings. True GF options while traveling are limited, so this experience was a gem.'

'The room was clean and comfortable. It was a quiet night's sleep as I believe I was the only one there. Breakfast was very plain and simple: English muffins and cinnamon toast, with no fruit or juice. Coffee was plentiful'

'Ik was er 5 nachten en alles ging vlekkeloos. Letterlijk de schoonmaak is uitstekend. Ook de jacuzzi en zwembad waren heerlijk en het tuinonderhoud is geweldig. De kamers zijn mooi groot en hebben alles om je verblijf aangenaam te maken.'

'Best that can be said is that it was clean. The shower was ok. No on-site staff, we had to check in using a Ring doorbell and bad phone connection. The baseboard heat control required me to get on the floor and crawl into the corner of the room behind the fridge. And the room didn’t look at all like the picture on Expedia. Stay here if you have no other choice.'

'The ice maker in our building didn’t work. No one mentioned that ahead of time. Also, the refrigerator wasn’t plugged in (I guess to save power). The staff was unhelpful.'
