I usually pick a LaQuinta to stay in when there is one in the area that I am visiting because of good previous stays at other locations. However, my experience this time was disappointing, unfortunately. There was a good appearance upon driving up to the location, but once in the facility, there were some issues. The desk clerk, Eric with whom I dealt with at check-in, was very nice and courteous and greeted me with a smile. The check-in went smoothly. These were my issues: 1) the room had a lingering stale odor that I could not identify the source of but perhaps was coming from the carpet in the room and hallway that appeared to need to be cleaned, 2) the air conditioner in the room malfunctioned and would not stay on the temperature I set but randomly adjusted itself making sleeping difficult and overly warm at times, 3) while watching the TV, the screen would often break up into small boxes indicating cable/internet issues, 4) the ice machine was out of service on the 1st and 2nd floors resigning all guests to have to go to the 3rd floor just to get ice that once you brought to the room melted rather quickly. On the 3rd floor, the area where the ice machine was located was overly hot due to a broken air conditioning unit in the area and the hallways on that floor were also hot, 5) the breakfast area was subpar; the waffle machine didn't work, there was no butter, and a bug fell from the waffle machine that was not immediately removed by the attendant when shown it.
