'Food was exceptionally good with great choice. Staff pleasant and helpful.'

'Unique oldish hotel, but lovely'

'The staff'

'This is a great place to stay. Excellent service, friendly staff, good breakfast. Very laid back atmosphere Within one hours driving you're in the Lake District, the North Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales '

'Lovely location right on the reservoir. Staff were all so friendly and accommodating. Food was beyond expectations and everyone was really impressed with dinner and breakfast.'

'We were walking the Pennine Way and stopped off at Bongate House after reaching Dufton and after walking/backpacking for most of the day. We had a very friendly welcome from Ann who on arrival looked after our every need. Breakfast was ample and tasty. The property suited our needs perfectly. Thank you Ann!'

'Food was good. Luxury room was not luxurious. Very small. Carpets on stairs need seeing to as are a trip hazard. Bar area, windows need a very good clean! Cobwebs and dust must have been there quite a while.'

'This has to be the craziest room I've ever stayed in, in a good way. The floors were sloped the furniture was sloping in line with the floors. Bed comfy amd bathroom was nice and clean. If you are after a quirky stay then this place is for you.'

'Staff very welcoming. Food really nice and very filling. Perfect stay for us. Thankyou'

'Vervelend en slecht personeel , ook na 3 uur geen WiFi, slechte keuken en extreem hoge prijzen. Wel prachtig gelegen'

'Excellent breakfasts, well organised. Room clean and welcoming. Only issue was the parking which was a bit of a lottery'

'We had an amazing stay at the hotel! The room was beautiful and the food there was amazing!!'

'The room was gorgeous and Sue is the kindest person. Lots of attention to detail and the little things that make your stay special. One issue was low water pressure in the shower due to a temperamental electric device that runs the shower head.'

'Staff could not have been more helpful. Home from home with super public areas and wonderful food. A gem we will visit again soon!'

'★★★★☆ The George Hotel has plenty going for it: welcoming staff, a generously sized room, thoughtful extra amenities and a wonderfully comfortable bed. The location is incredible, too. However, as many other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a quiet hotel. We were in a designated quiet room, with no events taking place during our stay, and could still hear just about everything happening around us. Four and a half ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the comfort, staff and fantastic location, but light sleepers...
