'We took our dog to get away from fireworks and this was the perfect place in the mountains. Walk to river to tube or wade. Two wonderful state parks nearby. Lots of hiking trails nearby as well and River House is a wonderful base for numerous outdoor activities. Just a wonderful place to relax. A five star place. Breakfast was wonderful and while we did not eat dinner. food smelled delicious. Nice small bar to get a great cocktail.'

'One night stay here after staying at their sister hotel in Raleigh. The property itself is fine but no atmosphere compared to Raleigh. Easy parking, clean and comfortable room. Not much to do within walking distance, except a burger takeaway. We tried to walk to a nearby microbrewery. It should've been a 5 minute walk, but we found it impossible to cross the 6-lane highway in front of the motel so gave up and went back to our room. Maybe, as Europeans, we're not used to the American way of...
