There is a saying that “You get what you pay for”. This is a 2-star hotel indeed. My daughter and I drove from Baltimore to VA Beach for her college orientation. I inadvertently requested a smoking room instead of a non-smoking room. After driving almost 4 hours, we arrived to a dirty, Smokey room including dirty bedding and a sticky floor. Someone even sprayed their initials on the mirrors. The toilet, sink, and tub was FULL of hair-grime.Instead of depending on housekeeping to “reclean” the room, we decided to visit Target get some cleaning supplies and clean the room top to bottom including the bedding since we would be there for a week. We woke up the next day to the housekeeping staff working in the laundry and room next to us cursing, loudly talking and smoking next to our room. I was also scheduled to work remotely using hotels internet connection. That didn’t happen. The front desk, the owner and IT staff were no help.
This stressed us both out with all the things we had to deal with over the week then this thing with the Red Roof Inn. Both of us are clean freaks which this situation set both of us off. My daughter kept sneezing from the smoke in the walls. We also had to keep going to the front desk because of the highly sensitive credit card keys. The only upside was the nearby shopping and beautiful neighborhood I could take my daily walk. This will definitely be our last stay here. Hopefully this helps the Red Roof Inn VA Beach improve.
