Cute Cottage River Front! Hot Tub , Four Twin Beds Friend Retreat!

A brand new hot tub! Relax and get out of the rat race here at River Bird Lodging. You will be steps away from fishing, kayaking, tubing or just relaxing in the river.
Or hang out on the porch and see the amazing mountain and river views. You will hear the sounds of the river as you drink your morning coffee on the porch or hang out by the fire pit and see the millions of stars!
A charcoal grill available for use: bring your own charcoal.
Explore around the 12 private and mostly wooded acres and find Native American artifacts as our property was previously occupied by the Choctaw people.

This suite is located next door the Kingfisher Suite also listed on VRBO.
This suite has four comfortable twin beds, two in the bedroom and two in the front room. We are now hosting retreats so come with four friends to sew, craft or just relax. You will also have access to separate creative space with tables, rollling chairs and task lighting. Ask us about hosting your next retreat!

*Note* An on-site host lives close to the rental cabin and is available to help if needed.

The property also offers 1 RV hook-up with plenty of parking room to bring your boat or ATVs.
We are located about 15 miles East of Sardis Lake and about 20 miles Southwest of the Talimena National Scenic Byway. ATV trails, hiking, fishing, and scenic drives are all close by.
Please note, the cottage is elevated about 10 feet off the ground and up 12 stairs.

The perfect quiet getaway

My husband and two children and I love camping and being outside. This little river getaway was perfect for us with our 5-year-old and 2-year-old. They loved fishing on the river, searching for seashells on the banks, playing in the dirt and water, making food and smores in the fire pit, hiking, and playing with Poppy the dog and the sweet cats that roamed the property. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. There's a comfortable bed in the room and our 5-year-old slept on the pull out couch while our 2-year-old slept in a pack-and-play that we brought. There would have been plenty of room for her on the pull-out-couch too if she would have stayed there. Access to the river is easy. There are beautiful hikes within a few minutes and access to town amenities if needed just 10 minutes away. We would definitely go here again!

Quiet river getaway

The cottage at River Bird Lodge was excellent. It's very nice, clean, well appointed. It's great for a couple or a small family. The cottage layout has a bedroom and common living area with a full kitchen. The bed was very comfortable, which is not always the case. It sits on a large property with a lot of woods to explore, as well as the river. This time of year the river is pretty low, so you can easily access the riverbed.. Niki was very responsive and easy to work with. I gave only 4 stars on the listing accuracy question only because there was mention of chickens and goats and my wife was excited for that, but they aren't there now....LOL. Otherwise the property is as advertised and then some. The only other item that I would call attention to is the fact that there are a 2 or 3 units together on the property so some elements like the fire pit may be shared. It wasn't a problem for us, we met some very nice folks around the fire....and Coach, who helps oversee the place was an absolute gem!

Quick get away weekend

Clean, friendly, safe and comfortable. Too rainy and chilly to enjoy a fire by the river for us, but we were out all day and ready for showers, dinner and relaxing sleep with the sound of the river in the background.

Most Peaceful VRBO!

I cannot say enough good things about Riverbird lodging! The cottage itself was cute and really nice. It had an amazing master bed and the couches were so comfy and perfect for my kiddos to sleep on! The kitchen was small but had what we needed, and we were able to use the grill for several of our meals as well. I was very impressed with the wifi and smart tvs as that allowed me to do some work on my computer while my kids got to watch movies in the evenings. The real gem was the view and the river scenery! It was so incredibly peaceful to sit down by the river and listen to the rushing water and the sounds of nature. We also enjoyed walking around the property and exploring as well, and my husband and son even caught a few fish! We also made an afternoon trip to Sardis Lake one day and then did some hiking the next afternoon on the Talimena Byway. This was truly the perfect getaway for our family, and we can't wait to come back!

A Very Pleasant Experience

This unit was clean, beautifully decorated and stocked with everything you might need. You can tell the owners have taken great care to make sure you have a great stay. Drawers were stocked with utensils, can and bottle openers, knives, pans, cutting board, etc. There were comfortable throw blankets, extra pillows, a foam topper for the pull out sofa to make sure you are comfortable. Towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a hair dryer. It was amazingly well thought out.

This is not just a stay—it’s an experience!

My daughter and I wanted to get away for the weekend, and the initial cabin I tried to book was sold out. This little treasure appeared in my search so we shrugged and said, “Lets give it a shot!” This is more than just a stay, though—it’s an experience. The whole family is involved in making their guests feel at home, and these are some truly accommodating, on-hand, and delightful hosts. Their young son (who is now my daughter’s BFF) brought up our luggage, his granddad made a truly impressive bonfire each night, and James and Niki are delightful human beings who bend over backwards to help. They even host a Bible study on Sunday morning for guests who are interested! Our room was small and tidy, the bed was super comfortable, and we lacked no good thing. There are even games and puzzles provided in the room, in the event of bad weather. The view is unbelievable with woods all around, River in front of you, and mountains climbing in the background. We didn’t avail ourselves of them, but there are some amazing hiking trails nearby worth checking out. This spot is pretty far off the beaten track, and that’s part of its charm. With the close proximity of the adjoining cabin and the on-site presence of the host family, this spot has a cozy community feeling (we also absolutely loved our neighbors next door). The River was too rapid for us to be able to spend much time in it, but we enjoyed hiking around the grounds, accompanied by the sweetest dogs in the world who were our constant companions. The animals... my gosh, the animals. There are four dogs, two goats, four cats, and 30 chickens (don’t forget to buy some fresh eggs while you’re there!). These animals were a treasured part of the experience for us—one more thing to add to the greatness of the place. We really had such a great time and made some lifelong friends. We will be going back for sure—as much for the people as for the getaway from the city.

Took my family on a mini vacation. We had a great time.

This place is so awesome. Niki and James and Kade took very good care of our needs. And we can’t forget about Coach! He made sure the fire pit was full and ready for the evening time. The inside was clean and felt very cozy. We will definitely be visiting this tucked away spot again.

Lovely stay!

Very cute and CLEAN cabin with a beautiful view of the river. Just sitting on the porch and listening to nature was so relaxing. Just what we were looking for during these crazy times. I was so excited seeing all the hummingbirds that came to the feeders that were hanging on the porch. Also enjoyed all the fur babies on the property as well. Always trailing along with us when we went for walks. We had a roaring fire provided by the owners who live on the property each night, so it was fun to have smores for desert every night. Owners took great care in providing everything you would need for your stay, including board games and puzzles! Being a very organized person, I truly appreciated the binder made by the owners that you find inside your cabin. Any question you may have had, was covered! Love it! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away from it all and enjoy nature.

Riverfront oasis.

This property is absolutely breathtaking. Not only is the view amazing, but the cabins and property owners are equally amazing. We rented kayaks and tubes and had the most wonderful experience. We cooked our dinner over the campfire provided by the hosts. We found a large amount of wild blackberries and were able to harvest enough to make a beautiful desert with our dinner. We are definitely planning on several returns.
