Fable House is a 1,400-square-foot single-level ranch home sitting right on the South Fork Kaweah River in Three Rivers, California. Built in 1971, it was fully renovated in 2026 — new furniture, updated Chef's Kitchen, refreshed bathrooms, everything. It doesn't feel like a vacation rental. It feels like a home someone actually took care of, and then handed the keys over to you.
Three Rivers is the gateway town to Sequoia National Park. The park entrance is about ten minutes from the front door. That means you can hike among the largest trees on earth — some of them thousands of years old — and still be back in time for dinner. Or skip the early start, have a slow morning on the patio with coffee, and head out in the afternoon when the crowds thin. Either way works fine here. Nobody's keeping score.
SLEEPING
The house sleeps up to 8 guests comfortably across three bedrooms. The master has two King-size beds and its own private en-suite bathroom — solid for couples traveling together or a family who wants their own space without negotiating bathroom schedules. The second and third bedrooms each have a Queen bed. The living room sofa fits one or two more if your group needs the space (an extra guest fee applies — just let us know before you arrive so we can plan accordingly).
THE KITCHEN
It's a real, fully updated working kitchen and it shows. Good appliances, generous counter space, enough room for more than one person to actually help without getting in each other's way. One practical thing worth knowing: the nearest full grocery store is in Visalia, about 30 minutes away. Worth stocking up on the drive in rather than making multiple trips. There's a small local market in Three Rivers for basics and forgotten items, but for a group, plan ahead.
THE PATIO AND RIVER
The backyard is genuinely the best part of the property. A large concrete patio opens up to views of the South Fork Kaweah River running along the back of the lot. In spring and into early summer, the river flows well — you can hear it from inside the house on a quiet morning. By late summer it typically slows to a trickle or goes dry, which is completely normal for seasonal rivers in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The patio is worth it regardless: morning coffee, evening dinners with the whole group, kids running around in the yard, a cold drink after a long hike. Good things happen out there.
THE BATHROOMS
Two full bathrooms, both updated in the 2026 renovation. The en-suite is private off the master bedroom. The second bathroom is near the kitchen and living area and serves the rest of the house. Both are clean and stocked for arrival.
PARKING
Circular gravel roundabout driveway at the front of the house. Fits up to four vehicles easily. No parallel parking, no circling the block, no drama.
