Charming and unique loft style apartment in quiet town
We really enjoyed our stay at this charming loft-style apartment in a quiet small-town building from 1910. The space was huge, with an open, airy living area that was perfect for relaxing and spending time together. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out comfortably. The apartment was well appointed with everything we needed for our stay. As with any historic building, there were a few quirksâlike the bathroom lighting being a bit dim and the beds being average in comfortâbut overall, these were minor compared to the character and unique charm of the place.Although the listing mentioned a washer and dryer, we couldnât find them, but we didnât ask the owner since we didnât really need them during our stay.If you appreciate spacious lofts with vintage character in a peaceful small-town setting, this is a great place to stay. Weâd happily come back!
We very much enjoyed our stay here at South Range. We had ample room to spread out, enjoyed the location, and enjoyed the array of activities the host had available to us.
Accomodations were great for our group of snowmobilers. We were able to park 2 trucks and trailers in the parking area. Shelving right inside the door was handy for organizing gear. Open floor plan and bar was great. Would stay again!
Great place to snowmobile out of!!! Older building but everything worked. Lot of open room for gear and hanging outFor the price we paid we all were very happy with what we got.
We stayed here while in town for our daughterâs wedding. The reception was right across the street at the Fire Hall. Obviously the location couldnât have been any better! We had our 7 mo old grandson also and when he was fussy we had plenty of space to push him around in his stroller. Vern was a great host, very quick to respond to questions!
Stayed one night to ride snowmobile up the keweenaw. Fantastic location, literally ON the trail. Great bars down the block. Hosts were very communicative and friendly. Clean place with tons of space to hang out. Nice use of an old building with cool history. Will be back!
Overall we enjoyed our stay but your place has a few problems. The bathroom ,especially the toilet is difficult to use for elderly and disabled. It is low and is at a wierd angle making hard on bigger disabled people. Some of the building looks like a work in progress. The bunkbed that is in there squeaks something terrible. Every time my son would turn over or get up it would wake us all up. I liked the fact that it basically an antique and I appreciate the efforts that you have made. We loved the spaciousness and the homey feel of the place. Overall I feel you are offering great value and I would highly recommend your place to friends. Thank you for letting us stay there and for replying so quickly to my inquiries.
Might be okay for a group of local guys, but all others be warned. Hostile, run-down area next to a laundromat and dive bar. Sketchy drunk guys watching/following us. Multiple security loopholes in the access system, any of those loiterers outside could breach if they were bored and wanted to. Shoddily repaired window frames, possibly indicating a past break in. If you look at the reviews, another woman mentions people trying to break in during her stay. Finding the "murder hole" was the last straw. It's not uncommon to find tunnels connecting these old storefronts, and the fact that it had a lock for show but wasn't actually locked, nor was it ABLE to be locked made us wonder what kind of an operation is being run here. (Why would someone place a dummy lock on a door?) Appeared to be accessible to other building tenants. I've slept outside with wolves, I've slept in hostels, in Chicago and you couldn't pay me to sleep here. Even worse, when I contacted the owner and politely asked for my money back, he accused me of extortion (like I would bother extorting someone for a hundred bucks!) and insisted that nothing was wrong with the property. I fear for the safety of anyone staying here, especially since the host seems to be completely dismissive of the safety of his tenants. It's evident from the photos that he's okay with a haphazard approach to home renovation, but it's not okay to take a haphazard approach to safety, especially for women & minority tenants.
This place is amazing with a great history. It was a perfect place for our needs. Is exactly as it is described. Very spacious and clean. It was well stocked with everything you need. Definitely would visit again.
A perfect value stay, clean and had everything needed to cook meals. The bathroom was a bit challenging, but overall a nice place and the owners were responsive to my messages.
Stayed here for a family visit to see my daughter at Tech. The loft was very big and unique. The main bed comfy, the others were clean and we were warm, plentyof towels, hot water which was amazing, TV worked with no issues, a wonderful supply of coffee and it was easy to find and check in close to MTU. We did have 3 separate issues with people trying to get in in the middle of the night. Not knocking, but actually trying to get in. I'm not sure if it was people from the bar across the street or people confused about where they were staying? I recommend you keep the door deadbolted at all times. Maybe a sign on the door that people are in the unit? Also, the upstairs neighbors made it impossible to sleep the first night and the radiators were loud at times. Aside from the noise and unwanted visitors trying to get it, we enjoyed our stay. I'm just very glad my dad was with us.
Unique open floor plan. Clean. Everything worked as it should. Did I mention clean!?! We only had 4 people but would go back with 8 for a night or two. Itâs very close to copper country sights. Thereâs a lot of floor space. Thought they could use a table tennis game đ. I canât say anything bad about this property.
What a grand old building! Nice quiet street. At first was a bit apprehensive about the large open space but, it grows on you! Could have been a bit cleaner. A few more of the divider screens might nice for a bit of privacy between beds. That may offer a bit more of a cozy feel and not cost an arm and a leg for the owners of the building.
Very clean historic downtown building space with lots of history
This property was two blocks from my niece; the perfect local for this trip. The two places I rented were in an old downtown building in South Range with nice, open space and unique, historical feel with great amenities. Communication was excellent with the host; I had no issues during the stay..everything worked well.
