Sonoita Vineyards

When in SouthWest Arizona be sure to visit the wine region. There are about 18 different wine estates in Sonoita/Elgin wine region. The wine estates are nothing like California, South Africa or Europe, but it is interesting to know that vines can grow in these harsh weather conditions and rocky terrain. We tried three Estates and we would only recommend the oldest vineyard in the area, Sonoita Vineyards. They have some interesting wines and we would rate them fair to good especially for being in AZ. The main building does not have that much charm like wine estates in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, but the surrounding views are beautiful. Locals have mentioned that Hops & Vines is another estate worth trying.
