This 1930's beach cottage has been completely renovated and designed with guests in mind, with a bright interior, modern kitchen and coastal-boho design.

This listing is for the downstairs unit, Rockaway South, which can be rented alone or in tandem with the upstairs unit, Rockaway North. See our profile for all available listings.

Rockaway South is a two bedroom, 1 bathroom beach cottage in the laid back San Diego neighborhood of Mission Beach. It is located on the ocean side of Mission Boulevard, just 4 houses from the beach.

It is a small space (less than 600sf) but we’ve designed it to take advantage of every square foot.

Please note that as of 1/20 we have taken several steps to mitigate any smell of "dampness" at the house including multiple dehumidifiers and a powerful air purifier. Recent heavy rains and high humidity combined with the close proximity to the ocean have made it a requirement for guests to take a few steps to help ventilate the house during their stay, especially during extended stays. We're confident that with the new tools we've implemented and guest cooperation in ventilating the house after showers that the damp smell will no longer be an issue for future guests.

- Ceiling-mounted closet bar with hangers and luggage stand

The 2nd Bedroom:
- Twin-over-twin bunk beds with memory foam mattresses, a selection of sleeping pillows and made up with soft, quality linens
- Desk with built-in charging ports
- Ceiling-mounted closet bar with hangers and luggage stand

The Bathroom:
- Newly renovated bathroom with vanity and toilet
- Walk-in, glass-enclosed shower with multi-position rain shower head
- Heated floors
- Plush towels, hand soap, toilet paper, shampoo, body wash, conditioner and hair dryer

- Front patio with table seating for 4
- Garage parking: guests will have access to one parking space in a shared garage at the back of the property. The garage is shared with our upstairs vacation rental unit (Rockaway North). Please note that the garage space is 16' 6” deep and may not accommodate large vehicles.
- Beach gear: chairs, umbrella, sand toys, beach towels
- Laundry: there is a washer and dryer (with detergent and fabric softener) in the garage. The machines are shared with our upstairs vacation rental unit (Rockaway North).
- WiFi: 1 gigabit fiber internet with excellent coverage throughout the unit for high-speed video conferencing and distance learning.

Guest have access to the entire 2 bedroom cottage. There is another unit, Rockaway North, located on the same lot above the garage. Garage parking is shared between the two units.

We will be available at any time during your stay via the Airbnb app or phone call/next. We also live nearby and can stop by the property if needed.

The Rockaway House is located in the laid-back neighborhood of Mission Beach. Tucked away on a small court, it is just 4 houses from the boardwalk (on the ocean side of Mission Boulevard) and a short walk away from restaurants, shopping and nightlife.

The San Diego MTS "#8" bus has a stop within 2 minutes walk of the house. The northbound service goes to Pacific Beach. The southbound service connects to the Old Town Transit Center where you can access the Trolley, Coaster, or other Bus Routes.

Uber and Lyft are usually quick and reliable options, and taxis are also available.

Ray’s Rentals (a block to the north on Mission Boulevard) has longer term rentals for bikes, surf boards, etc.
