Oceanfront Sights and Sounds from the Porch and Veranda - Closest to the Beach!

During the summer months of June - September, we rent weekly from Saturday to Saturday. For the off- season, we rent a minimum of three nights to minimize the wear and tear on our home.

'A Fluke of Nature' is one of the very few beach homes in our community from where you see AND hear the waves crash onto the surf -- all from our veranda.

This is a true oceanfront experience and we're reminded how spectacular it is each time we visit! We named this classic East Coast townhouse 'A Fluke of Nature' because of the unexpected whales swimming in front of our home on our very first weekend here. From our veranda, we also see dolphins swimming most mornings.

Our relaxing home has an open-concept living room, fully-equipped and well-appointed kitchen, spacious outdoor shower, and new beds for naps in the middle of the day.

To round out a terrific beachfront vacation, our home has:
—Two breezy oceanfront screened porches, one on each floor to enjoy the sunrise with your morning coffee. Bring your favorite K-cups for the Keurig machine. There's also a coffee maker if you prefer to brew a fresh pot of your favorite coffee.
—Beach cottage look and feel with open beamed ceilings, shiplap walls, and original wide plank wood floors throughout. New stove and dishwasher too. The home is light and airy.
—A 2/3 bedroom option which means we have two (2) large bedrooms upstairs. The back bedroom can be further divided with a hanging folding divider into two (2) smaller bedrooms. This convertible option is what creates the third bedroom. You choose among the King bed in the primary bedroom, or the two Full-sized beds in the convertible back bedroom. (Please note: Our limit is 4 adults, and a total of 6 guests).
—Full bath upstairs, a half-bath on first floor, and a hot water outdoor shower on the enclosed back deck with storage and a full sized washer and dryer. (The outdoor shower and W&D are in use for summer only).
—Large 54-inch TV in the living room and two TVs upstairs. There is an Xfinity Flex box downstairs; ROKUs and DVD players are in bedrooms with each TV. (This means there is no live cable in our home.) Bring your sign-ins for Netflix, Apple+, AMC, Disney, YouTube TV, etc.
—Bose sound system with Bluetooth for your Pandora and iTunes or for listening to local radio stations and CDs.
—Our local Jolly Trolley stop is a 2-minute walk and you can walk/bike to downtown Rehoboth and Dewey for dining and ice cream. We are just south of Silver Lake, the least crowded and quietest area between Rehoboth and Dewey Beach.
—Off-street parking for two (2) cars where you can leave them without worry. The lovely Fresh Market is five (5) minutes away by car and it has exceptional fresh-cooked meals and a huge selection of gourmet grocery items. With Fresh Market, you don’t have to deal with Route 1 traffic near the outlets for groceries the entire time you’re at “A Fluke of Nature.”

Important information regarding our home:
—Guests must provide their own linens and towels. Bring your pillowcases, fitted and flat sheets for 2 Full size beds, and a sheet set for one King size bed. Also bring your favorite bath and beach towels. We also recommend bringing your own pillows, throws, and blankets.
—Guests provide their own beach chairs, umbrellas, and essentials like laundry detergent and personal toiletries.
—There is no outside grill or BBQ allowed at our home. The structure is a traditional beach house made of wood including our decks and courtyard. If a grill is imperative for your beach week, this is probably not the right beach house for you. (And that’s okay!)
—For summer, rates are weekly plus a cleaning fee, insurance policy, City of Dewey tax, and VRBO processing fee (which we do not control). During the summer months, this is a Saturday to Saturday rental.
—This is a true no-smoking, no-pets, no Senior-week, no large-group property. Smoking is not allowed neither inside or outside. Please do not ask to bring pets. Dewey Beach does not allow pets on the beach between 10am - 5pm so that means your pet would need to stay inside our home all day, every day, and we have no grassy areas nearby. This is not the life we envision for furry family members.
—Since we are not a hotel nor a full-time rental, we have the expectation that our guests will treat our home gently and with respect.
—A fully executed Lease Agreement is required for all paid reservations 45 days prior to check-in; failure of tenant to sign lease or to fill out completely is cancellation and loss of rental payment by tenant.
--Intentional misrepresentation of occupants (eg: number of adults vs. number of children) will result in automatic cancellation and/or immediate eviction.
--We do not have marble countertops nor spa bathrooms. If that's important for an enjoyable beach vacation, our house is probably not for you. (And again, that's OK!)
