'Our stay at Shiomachi Roya in Tomonoura was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I was impressed by the renovations done to turn this old merchant house into an inn. I liked the design and decor. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Because this particular house (Roya) has only 4 rooms to stay in, the staff are located at another sister inn literally just around the corner, one minute away. They also gave us advice on where to go nearby and gave us tips on how to get there. Great stay, the room was spacious, clean and big and the Ryokan experience as a whole was definitely one I would like to repeat in the future.'
