Do Not Stay Here!

I waited a minute to write up this review trying to decide how to actually write it. We knew the place was going to an older place and that was fine but once we got there we knew we wouldn’t be staying there. We got to the house about 5:30 at night. The building in front of this house is boarded over and has a chain link fence encasing the whole house. We had been at the ball park all day and just wanted to come to the house to cool off and relax. We walked in and immediately knew the place had been cleaned. Towels were everywhere, trash was full, beds used, hair on the toilet seat, and dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I called and they said we had to leave for an hour or two and they would send someone over to clean it. We agreed tot why until we were leaving and as we left we saw used hypodermic needles around to property. I then called and said we wouldn’t be staying there (we had children with us) and that I wanted my money back. I told them I would be nice and pay for the first night but wanted refunded for the rest, this included me asking for the cleaning deposit back too. I then proceeded to talk to the rental management company because they charged us for the one night and the $145 cleaning fee. They told me several times they would have someone call me about the situation and no one ever did. Once I texted, someone would respond and basically told me I was I was paying the cleaning fee. The management company was difficult to deal with to say the least.

Bugs and Bikers

We had a decent stay at the Rustic Downtown Retreat. The rental was spacious and accomodated my friend and I, along with our bikes. I wished there had been a coffee maker other than a Keurig, but the kitchen had at least some basic cookware. There were a fair number of bugs everywhere, including in the sheets of the bed. The air conditioning works well enough on the main floor, but the second floor, where the bedrooms were located was quite warm at night. Our primary complaint is for the motorcycles that seemed to run up and down Washington Blvd / HWY-89 all night long. We had trouble sleeping with all the noise. I likely wouldn’t recommend the place to a friend, but it was fine.

A short stay

interior photos of the home was accurate however the exterior of the home is less than desirable with overgrown weeds dirty garbage cans and loose gravel for the walkway.This home has an additional apt for another family although nothing is shared except the parking lot, This home i believe is bettor equip to accomodate a younger crowd and not the 65+ age group with its steep stairway to the bedroom and a porcelin tub that has to be climb into hopefully without a fall. But we did like the shower and the beds were very comfortable. it sucked that if we wanted to watch tv we had to descend the steep stairway and ascend if we needed to use the bathroom.But the home was very clean.The smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling by a wire and the smaller bedroom had no night tables. This location was attached to an abandon restaurant but convenient to the major thoroughfares.

Very unsatisfied

No bathroom on the main level, no air conditioning on the upper level. I had no electric in the living room for my entire stay. The trash had not been picked up in who knows how long and the place was covered with flies gnats and maggots coming out of the trash can. I tried to communicate with the manager and they were very un responsive and did very little to address the problems or offer me another place to stay while they corrected the issues. Would not stay here or book with these people or any oh their properties again. I asked about a refund or credit and have only been told its being "reviewed by management " and have not heard a word in over 2 weeks. Ridiculous

Over all the stay was good. Amenities were good. Beds comfortable and rooms spacious. Kitchen spacious. Bathroom spacious. Liked the push button switches.

Positief: Netheid, voorzieningen en staat van de accommodatie en faciliteiten
Old building with high ceilings and wood floors, very clean. Recent remodel with new appliances/fixtures that worked well. Good location, though neighborhood is old and Washington St. is noisy (which was not a problem for us). Broken window needs to be fixed, and an outside light is needed. Bathroom has no towel bars or hooks and could use a shower curtain on the window side. I would stay here again as long as the window is fixed.
