Some of the rooms are located in-house, which makes them a bit stuffy due to lack of ventilation, but this is minor. Right in the hart of Old Quito at 5 minutes walk from historic square with cathedral, museums, presidential palace, and also the National Basilica. '

'We really enjoyed our stay. We had the Amazon (luxury) room and it was great. Loved the bed ! Firm and really comfortable! Soaker tub and complimentary wine was also nice. Freddy in the restaurant and all staff were great. We walked to centre of old town from the hotel within 10-15. We felt safe in and around old town Quito. Previously we were in Brazil, so this was a nice change. While elevation isn’t super high (2800m approx) we did get altitude sickness for about 18 hours. We dint...

'Great location-just 1 block north of Plaza Grande (as hotels.com says but contrary to what Google maps say as of today: and you'll need to tell cabs/ubers/...). My room was quite quiet despite of being right downtown. The people running the hotel are very friendly and helpful. I'd certainly stay at Casa Colonial again.'

However, there were a couple of issues during our stay. The building uses a solar water heating system instead of gas, and unfortunately there was no hot water for one full day. 'Hoewel een kort verblijf van 2 nachten, een prima tijd gehad in het in historische centrum zeer centraal gelegen hotel. Ook van het straatverkeer geen last, mede omdat de straat relatief smal is. Bijzonder was dat die Zondag verplicht binnenblijven was vanwege de census( volkstelling) Uitsluitend militairen en politie op straat. Echter met het fijne hotel en de goede maaltijden was het niet echt rampzalig. Ook was het bijzonder dat het hele land vanaf vrijdagmiddag tot maandagmiddag drooggelegd...
