My dad and I booked TWO rooms with two queen beds for our family, paid through Expedia, but at check-in, we were only given ONE room. We realized the mistake within a minute, returned to the front desk, and informed the staff. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the error. Instead, the staff told us to wait until she was done with other customers, despite just having helped us seconds earlier.
After 10–15 minutes, she claimed, “There are only two of you, one room is enough.” We had to explain that the second room was for my mom and dad, and I was in a separate room. She then made us go back to the car to get my mom’s ID — adding more stress after we had just driven 740 miles. When I asked if there was a glitch in their system that missed the second room, she dismissed the question and blamed us, saying we didn’t “need” two rooms.
To make matters worse, the area felt unsafe. There were sketchy groups loitering near the rooms, watching us bring our luggage upstairs, rubbing their arms and pacing. As someone trained in addiction medicine and law, the behavior was concerning and suggested possible substance use.
The room itself was average, as expected for this location, and that’s not our issue — we’re not picky. But the lack of professionalism, poor communication, and unsafe environment made this a frustrating and uncomfortable stay. We won’t be returning.
