My college friends and I stayed here for three nights. We've stayed at a number of rental properties over the years, so were excited for this one. Overall, this house was good, but there are a few things that would make it great.
PROS:
- The location is great. Easy walk to Zuma. Short drive to El Matador and other key locations in Western Malibu.
- Walkable to Trancas Market, with Vintage Grocers (terrific upscale market) along with some cute shops and restaurants.
- Beautiful views of the ocean from the upper balconies. Outdoor space is amazing, with two great seating areas - one around firepit and one on second floor balcony. Hot tub (which we didn't use), bocce, etc make for great ambiance.
- Kitchen is big with high end appliances. We had a private chef come make us a meal and there was plenty of room.
- Bathrooms have been updated nicely. Beds were comfy.
CONS:
- While the house is big (and sleeps 8), there's no comfortable place for a group to hang out inside. The weather wasn't great, so we were limited in our outdoor time. The couch in the living room was oddly small and uncomfortable and only sat 4, and there was no other seating in a very large room. Lack of rugs in that room made it very echo-y.
- Interior and decor was a bit heavy and dated -- didn't really have that Malibu vibe.
- Cookware and knives in kitchen were sub-par.
We had a great weekend but would love some updates!
