Serene is the best way to describe the cottage. We stayed here a week with an infant and a toddler while we worked remotely in the second floor during a last minute business trip. We even had a sitter drive out during the day to watch them while we worked in the second bedroom. We brought our own pack n play for the infant to sleep in. If small children stay here I recommend immediately moving all the beautiful pottery, glass fish, ceramic coasters and delicate seashells to a place they cannot reach and return them at the end of the stay. There was plenty to keep the kids busy for more than a week. They certainly enjoyed the lake which has plenty of fish and tadpoles. The smart TV has plenty to watch with YouTube, Hulu, Disney+ and Prime which we didn’t get to use much since the outdoors was far more appealing. The book selection is great! I would recommend adding a couple children's books to the mix. There are board games for rainy days and the screened in porch with high ceiling quickly became our preferred place to be in the house. The kitchen is fully stocked to cook any meal for a full family and there is a 6 seat dining table in the porch plus more seating if necessary. In the shed out back there are kick balls, football, a bike plenty to play with in the yard, not to mention the fire pit. The surrounding trees make the home a peaceful retreat and the skylights in the second floor are a great way to let fresh air in all night. The water in the shower heats up quickly and stays hot/warm for at least three straight showers, but then heats up again quickly, in case you have a big family all showering in turns. The beds are all very comfortable and great on the back support. It is truly a benefit to have a washer, dryer and dishwasher available for a long stay. The host responded quickly to all our questions before and after our stay, even when we left an item behind and had to retrieve it. We booked the cottage because it was the largest place we could find near Hartford county in June at a reasonable price. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our stay, how tranquil, peaceful and stunning it is to stay in the house and in Amston. This has now become a permanent place we will try to escape to regularly and we hope to catch this cottage’s availability in the future. We truly enjoyed our serene stay!!
