## Neighborhood
With two small supermarkets and many local restaurants and cafes in the neighbourhood, you don’t need to wander far for a relaxing stay. If it is nightlife you are looking for, then inside the city walls is where you will find it.
There are plenty of walks within the area, including the “Pilgrims Walk” to the Ponte da Piedade. You can take a local bus from the nearby bus stop to explore more of Lagos and its surrounding villages. Portugal is steeped in history from winding cobbled streets to its great explorers and enchanting small fishing villages. Take yourself back in time and enjoy special moments making special memories. For a more modern feel why not relax at one of the many bars and restaurants while the sun sets over the Marina where “old meets new”.
Close to Lagos is a variety of activities and sights for all ages. These range from water parks to Zoos, through to historic monuments and challenging hiking and biking trails. There are three golf courses within close proximity to Lagos, making it an ideal location for your base.
The West Coast with its very rouged coastline is also very popular for surfing and some would say with some of the best beaches in the Algarve.
## Transit
You can reach Lagos in about one hour by car from Faro Airport and car rental is available in the parking lot of the airport. By train it will take about 2,5 to 3 hours.
Lagos has a train station (for travel towards Faro, Lisbon and Porto) and a bus station (for buses towards the west-side of the south coast) but do note that buses and trains only go a few times per day. You can easily get around without a car and there are plenty of taxis and Ubers available, but if you really want to explore the area surrounding Lagos, a (rental) car will make your life a whole lot easier.
