4/10 – Matig

The biggest plus for Rosemont Retreat is the quiet neighborhood and its location near the beach for the daily walks we enjoyed during the month we were there. The patio and living area are pleasant and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen suffices, but the overall condition of this house (built in 1948 according to a neighbor) is old and rundown. The picket fence is rotting and falling apart. The bathroom seems to be the original, with a wall heater at toddler level that has an open grill and coils that heat to red-hot. The low shower fixture sprayed my 6’2” husband on the chest, and the sink had a bad odor emanating from the drain. After we arrived, a maintenance person had to stop by to re-light the pilot in the living room wall heater, and return later to replace a doorknob to the side yard that broke. Overall, this was our most disappointing (and expensive) vacation rental ever.
