MISLEADING LISTING – different building, different rooms
Felt like a scam: we booked Metropole Thu Thiem via Expedia for 3 rooms. On arrival, we were redirected to a different building called “The Galleria Residence,” not the Metropole building advertised. Rooms, layout and furnishings did not match the listing photos at all.
Location & building
• Expedia listing address: Metropole Thu Thiem.
• Actual stay: The Galleria Residence at a different address.
• Staff messaged us on WhatsApp to go to another location after we arrived at the listed address.
Rooms vs photos
• Room size and layout were smaller and different to what was shown online.
• We later found the exact rooms we stayed in under a separate Expedia listing for The Galleria, confirming it was a different property.
Amenities & pool
• Pool is heavily featured in the listing photos.
• On arrival, we were told we needed to pay extra and register fingerprints to use the pool.
• For us, this felt misleading – photos suggested included access.
Privacy concerns
• Host asked us to send passport photos via WhatsApp before arrival and said it was mandatory.
• This raised serious concerns about data security and how our ID is stored/used.
Support & resolution
• We contacted the host and Expedia during the stay.
• Property denied issues; resolution took time and did not change the fact we were in a different building than booked
