'I was a little nervous booking at a motel with my family but was limited with my own poor planning booking for a lacrosse tournament at UMass. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and ease of everything. We did need to ask for extra sheets for the pullout bc they were not in the room, and even with the owners dealing with a family emergency they were very attentive and we had everything we needed. It was an easy 17 minute drive to UMass and very affordable.'

'We spent the night after a wedding in nearby Northampton. It was a lovely place to return to at the end of a long day. We enjoyed our breakfast the following morning, both the buffet selections (especially the coffee cake muffins) as well as our conversation with staff member Kristen. We always try to support small businesses in the places where we travel and the Dasniel Stebbins House did not disappoint!'

'This hotel is in a great location. The staff was nice and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. Quiet location even though it’s on the main road. There was a nice pool and small gym area and a cute outdoor sitting space that was enjoyable in the later evening. A small bar/breakfast area if you needed it. Great hotel for a night or two.'

'Pros: Clean, good complimentary breakfast, easy check in/out, location nearby restaurants and shopping, price to value is fair Cons: Hotel was as expected. It's not the nicest place but serves a clean, efficient property to stay at if visiting the area.'

'There are not enough words to explain how disgusting and dirty and repulsive everything and that hotel was, the sheets were not clean. The bedspread was stained with human fluids. The TV remote control was broken. There was bugs on the sink, cigarette stains all over the tub. The toilet was dirty, and that was the first room we went into and then the second room was exactly the same however, the tack strip that attaches the rug in the threshold of the bathroom was exposed, and I stepped on it...

'Not good, definitely not even close to worth the inflated fee we were charged. How expedia has this rated so good is a mystery. On par with a red roof or such and a hassle finding it and getting in. No real lobby, through an underground parking garage and a maze.'

'The historic Inn is beautifully maintained and updated and provides a unique experience of staying in a home dating back to the 1600's. Breakfast was delicious and Megan the cook was welcoming and helpful. We always stay at the Black Walnut Inn when in Amherst!'

'First of all I want to start with the positives because there were some. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were well equipped, spacious and clean. Unfortunately that is all the positives. First issue was the staff there were very unhelpful and did not abide by their own rules. The first thing you see, and plastered all over the hotel, are signs stating this is a smoke free hotel. However on the first night there were people smoking in their rooms. You could smell it all from outside the...
