Approaching site of Bower station on line from Wick, 1986. View westward, towards Georgemas Junction and the south: ex-Highland Railway (Far North line), Inverness - Dingwall - Georgemas Junction - Thurso/Wick. The line remains active, but the former station - just visible ahead - was closed from 13/6/60 (goods 18/5/64).

Het Pentlandhotel vertelt je bij aankomst dat de reservering, die in februari reeds bevestigd is, overboekt was. Vervolgens dumpen ze je in een uitgeleefde studenten "appartement", waarvan de eigenaar beweerd dat die pas 10 jaar oud zijn! Jammer dat elke vorm van onderhoud sinds die tijd uitgebleven ...

Very nice and quiet tiny house, still close to the nearest town and beach. For me the bed could’ve been a bit longer, but the couch that turned into a bed was long enough and additional sheets were provided. It’s fully equipped and very modern, we liked staying here a lot.
