'The Read Retreat was a perfect little cabin with all the “essentials!” It is “UP” the mountain on a few twisty roads but, it’s not a bad drive at all and is in a good location to surrounding areas. We had lots of deer sightings and one black bear as well! I would highly recommend the Read Retreat!'

'It was exactly what was needed. We run a small farm and needed privacy and quiet. We got that and more. We did shopping and sightseeing first so once we got on the mountain we stayed Hot tub was perfect for repeat dunking. 'Everything was as advertised until we entered the property. On August 16th at 6 pm it was 80 degrees and no A/C!! I contacted John and he said open the windows and let the cool mountain air flow in. We didn’t unpack because we didn’t think that would work. He was so right!! The rest of the week was great! The home is beautifully decorated and well stocked. The view at Grandview is truly grand!! Banner Elk dining is a special treat especially Sorentos and Stonewalls! Beech Mountain is beautiful...

'Thank you for providing a wonderfully cozy place to stay while we enjoyed Boone and some snowboarding!!! The cabin had everything we needed and more. The hot tub was perfect after the slopes and the pool table kept our family entertained into the evening!! Great place and Great location!!!'
