One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze.

Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

« Four of us (two adults and two grown kids) stayed for five nights over the holiday weekend. The location of this property right on the Duck/Southern Shores boundary was just great. Sunset views of the bay were great and the ocean was a short walk or drive away. The property was very clean. « The host was very accommodating and helpful. The space is attached to their home but never once did they make it awkward. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. It’s a great space for a couples quiet getaway.The only thing that would have made things more comfortable would be more pillows. In all, it was a nice stay. We look forward to visiting the area again but will likely use one of our hosts other places. »

« Overall impression was great! The location was perfect, off the main highway but, close enough that you could walk to shops and restaurants. Beach location and access was great!
