'Food was exceptionally good with great choice. Staff pleasant and helpful.'

'Food was good. Luxury room was not luxurious. Very small. Carpets on stairs need seeing to as are a trip hazard. Bar area, windows need a very good clean! Cobwebs and dust must have been there quite a while.'

'We were walking the Pennine Way and stopped off at Bongate House after reaching Dufton and after walking/backpacking for most of the day. We had a very friendly welcome from Ann who on arrival looked after our every need. Breakfast was ample and tasty. The property suited our needs perfectly. Thank you Ann!'

'This is a great place to stay. Excellent service, friendly staff, good breakfast. Very laid back atmosphere Within one hours driving you're in the Lake District, the North Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales '

'We had a fantastic stay! The room was big, the TV worked well and the en-suite was great. Breakfast was nice.'

'This has to be the craziest room I've ever stayed in, in a good way. The floors were sloped the furniture was sloping in line with the floors. Bed comfy amd bathroom was nice and clean. If you are after a quirky stay then this place is for you.'

'Unique oldish hotel, but lovely'

'Staff could not have been more helpful. Home from home with super public areas and wonderful food. A gem we will visit again soon!'

'Beautifully decorated hotel with excellent food and helpful pleasant staff.'

'★★★★☆ The George Hotel has plenty going for it: welcoming staff, a generously sized room, thoughtful extra amenities and a wonderfully comfortable bed. The location is incredible, too. However, as many other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a quiet hotel. We were in a designated quiet room, with no events taking place during our stay, and could still hear just about everything happening around us. Four and a half ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the comfort, staff and fantastic location, but light sleepers...

'The staff'

'The place was wonderful. The only flaw was the difficulty I had finding the transportation they promised from the airport/train station, since there were no signs. I could see the place from outside, but I couldn't figure out how to safely walk there.'

'Great hotel and staff. A nice and quiet area. Great place to stay and visit the Eden Valley and Lake District.'

'Mooie omgeving en daarna heerlijk gezwommen in mooi zwembad met stoombad.'
