Solid 5 Star Stay!

We stayed during the week of spring break and it could not have been a more perfect location! The beach was maybe a .25 mile walk, which insulated us from the noise beach drive spring breakers but was close that we walked the beach every morning! The house was perfect! So clean, so well stocked! Trash bags, dishwasher pods, towels, beach toys, a few beach chairs… it was everything they advertised and more!

Spring Bream Trip

Overall stay was great! Just a few things that could have made it better. We checked in on Friday. The ice maker didn’t work and outlets in all three bathrooms didn’t work. Property manager said he would send someone over Monday to fix it. He gave us the code to the closest so we could get electricity in the bathrooms. There was chewed gum on the bunk room wall. We told him and he said he would send the cleaning company over. He never did. The gum stayed on the wall the entire time we were there. The pool was cold the first two days. We had to message him and he told us he had to recycle it. It was warm the remainder of our stay. It has a Nest thermostat that has previous settings applied. It got up to 75 the first two nights we were there. He said he would log in and reset the thermostat. This took two days. The location was great! Close to beach and town. The golf cart did not have working seat belts or turn signals. The noise was loud on the weekends.

Perfect family house!

60 seconds from the beach!! Perfect house for our family vacation. More than enough room for everyone. Home included towels, beach towels, kitchen essentials and everything else you can think of. After day 1 we said we plan on staying here again next summer. The best part was having a golf cart included and huge private pool!!!!

Great Stay in Port A

Very nice property, has everything we needed. Very close to beach access with plenty of parking space. Property manager was very responsive to any issues or questions. Golf cart was a bonus. Would definitely book again.

Great House

This was a perfect house for my husband and I, Grandparents and our 4 small children. The Bunk room was perfect for them and the 3 bedrooms for all the adults are great! We loved the lay out. The pool and outside area was a perfect pool with small children. We loved our stay!

Summer Vacation Stay

The house location was perfect, it was close to the beach and all the restaurants. The house had everything we needed and more. We really loved having a private pool for the family. We also enjoyed having a golf cart to get around. We can not wait to come back again.

Beach oasis

We had a great time riding the golf cart to the beach, relaxing in the cool ac in the afternoon, and taking a swim in the private pool in the evening. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal for our family. We enjoyed our trip and would definitely search this property for a return trip!

Incredible Property

We absolutely loved our time at this property and are considering returning for our family vacation next year. The house is beautiful and the location is so close to the beach. Our favorite part though was definitely the private pool. We had small children with us and the pool was a huge hit with them. Highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in Port A.

Great spot

We do an annual trip every year with our friends and family and we all agreed this house was the best. Most importantly it didn’t have a crazy amount of stairs. 1 easy flight, everything on the same level, fantastic! We also loved that you could easily park 3 vehicles in the shade. Unloading and loading in the Sun is no fun. There was tons of hooks inside and outside to hang your wet stuff or gear. Hose outside to rinse vehicles and gear off. Super comfortable interior. They really thought of every little detail to make the trip that mush easier. Great place, we’ll be back Forsure.

Excellent - THE BEST!

We loved our stay at Sandbar Retreat and Port A (first timers) for Spring Break! We normally go to Florida, this was our first time on the Texas gulf. The home exceeded our expectations. In fact, it is one of the best homes we have ever stayed in and the host, Thomas, is above the "WOW" factor in providing great communication to allow vacationers to enjoy their stay while he takes care of ensuring everything runs smoothly. Sandbar Retreat is very roomy, clean, well-stocked, and in a good location to travel to the beach and around town. We had teen girls with us, and they enjoyed the heated pool. Having the golf cart was an added bonus to get to the beach and around Port A,. On recommendation made by the host, we ate dinner at Fins, it did not disappoint. We only regret not staying a day longer. Highly recommend!

Great location and property….but not 5 stars.

We would have given the place 5 stars BUT the heat on the pool was turned off one day before we were checking out and it was so cold we could not use the pool the last day. We called at 4:00 after we were back from the beach and they adjusted or turned it back on but it never was warm enough to get in again. This was a huge bummer. We have two adult children with special needs and swimming is their biggest joy. The rest of the stay was perfect. No complaints and super clean. Pay attention to restaurant recommendations from the owner. Every single one we tried was awesome!! We’d be back if it wasn’t for the pool heat issue. The beach is great and the golf cart was so much fun to take around town. Get your groceries before you take the ferry. There are less options in Port A.

Amazing communication- great hosts!

The property is very well stocked with everything you would need. The hosts even leave soap, shampoo and makeup wipes just like a hotel. There are more than enough (very large white) towels for everyone for showers and bathing. They have a nice selection of beach towels. We have stayed at many VBRO properties and this one is at the top for hospitality. The internet was fast enough my husband and I could work, our son played video games and we could still stream on the tv. The pool is much larger than the pictures depict, and as a bonus it was 90 degrees. The pool is clean and you have plenty of privacy from neighbors. We had a couple of questions throughout the stay and the hosts responded immediately. They were kind and very accommodating. The washer and dryer are new (the pictures show older ones) and they are very large and perfect for washing large loads after a visit to the beach. Our family will be back - thank you!

Great house, perfect location!

If you're looking for the perfect beach house for your family, this is it. Large open area for cooking and dining, large bedrooms with comfy beds, clean home, great communication with the owners and a HEATED POOL! The pool was a huge hit with our boys, (4 & 6) they enjoyed that it was heated on those cool December nights! Plenty of parking at this home as well! We are looking forward to returning this summer and staying again.

Sun, Fun, and a Fab stay on the beach

We LOVED our stay at the Sandbar Retreat. The property was so clean and comfortable. They had so many things provided in the kitchen, for the beach, and even some pantry staples. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of hot water for lots of showers, and the kitchen appliances were in great working order. The owner was helpful with information and tips prior to our trip and clear about how to manage the pool and golfcart so we could keep them in the nice condition we found them. We had two families with a total of 6 children and we all fit comfortably and found it to be a great home, close to the beach, and well appointed. I would recommend this to others...or keep a secret for ourselves because we will be back!
