Everyone knows the Salento for the beauty of its beaches and its postcard views, for the goodness of local cuisine and the charm of its many traditions. But few may know that in the Salento is also famous for many other aspects that are revealed to visitors especially during the many patronal feasts spread inland of the peninsula. We are talking about the incredible play of light illuminations, also called villas: these little colored lights that go to cover entire buildings such as waterfalls, churches, streets and squares, forming sets only ones able to keep his eyes upwards everyone, from the largest to the smallest. An idea as simple as charming, able to walk the visitor through alleys and streets amid an almost surreal, magical, surrounded by the sounds and smells of these traditional festivals.

Grecìa Salentina (Salentinian Greece) is an area in the peninsula of Salento in southern Italy, near the town of Lecce which is inhabited by the Griko people, an ethnic Greek minority living in southern Italy who traditionally spoke a Greek Language dialect also called Griko.

It’s a really nice apartment in a historic building in the old Lecce. The location is very safe and convenient to explore the old town. There is also a street parking within 5 min walk, which was very helpful. Desideria is wonderful and very easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend.
