Mooi oud hotel. Voor het geld wat ik er voor betaal verwacht ik echter wel knap uitzicht. Nu keken we op een plastic tank uit aan de zijkant van het hotel. Badkamer mag ook wel eens opnieuw gekit worden. Eten was ook behoorlijk aan de prijs. Een andere gast vroeg of hij voor het hele hotel moest betalen toen hij de rekening kreeg. Kortom de prijs kwaliteit verhouding klopt niet. Omgeving is wel een aanrader.

The pod is very nice, clean and has a lovely view. Very near to Portree and all the restaurants, shops, etc. A perfect location to start exploring the island from. Breakfast is great (a cute tray with yoghurt, croissant, fruits for every table and on top of that you can order warm food from the menu) The people working there are very friendly. Unfortunately they are short of staff and you notice that. Breakfast takes a bit longer than usual, the restaurant was shut on one of the days we stayed there and the lounge/bar was closed during our stay. Luckily there is a pizza guy (Pizza in the Skye) just down the hill that makes terrific pizza’s to take and eat in the pod with some Netflix on or to sit out and watch the stars if the weather is good. Would recommend this stay for the location, view, cosiness, etc. but price is quite high. Though I must add prices are sky high on Skye everywhere..

"Until standardisation of weights and measures in the 18th century, a "mile" in Scotland could be a variable distance. Generally a Scottish mile was longer than a mile in England, a fact which was immortalised by Robert Burns in his poem "Tam o' Shanter" - "We think na on the lang Scots miles..." After the Union of the Parliaments in 1701, the standard English measure began to be introduced in Scotland, gradually replacing the Lang Scots Mile. The Lang Scots Mile Walk was created in 2002 on the seafront of Ayr to commemorate the town's historical links with Burns as well as to encourage healthy exercise. It was estimated that a 10 stone man or woman walking Lang Scots Mile would burn off 115 calories and a 16 stone person, 184 calories."
