'Very clean and tidy place with friendly staff.'

'Room was tired and bed uncomfortable. Car park had no lighting which made it difficult to navigate in the dark.'

'Beautiful property out of the bustle of nearby Ambleside or Hawkshead. Lovingly cared for and staffed. Gorgeous views, delicious breakfast and dinner, and a hot shower. Hikes out the door. 5 minute walk to Beatrix Potter's home at Hill Top. We hope to return.'

'Very helpfull and friendly staff especially Morgan and Megan. Room clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. Excellent views of Lake Windermere. Food was delicious with superb gluten free options'

'Great Inn with huge breakfast; also excellent dinner options!'

'Nice, Big Room! Beautiful Decorated House. Helpful and Friendly staff.'

'Redelijk goed hotel in Lake District. Goed ontbijtt en diner'

'Overall, a pleasant stay, although there were a few areas that could certainly be improved. Parking was convenient, the Wi-Fi was reliable, and the shower was very good. The bed was also comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. However, the cleanliness of the room was disappointing, particularly the carpet, which was covered in stains. This gave the room a tired and poorly maintained appearance and certainly detracted from the overall experience. Another disappointment was the lack...

'Good location, friendly helpful staff Great cooked breakfast. Room under the roof a 'ittle warm'

'Klein kamertje met piepkleine badkamer, slechte bedden en dat voor 120,00 per nacht. Het ontbijt en ligging was oke gelukkig'

'The property has real presence and looks stunning. Its decor is in keeping with the property and looks a bit worn but makes it feel loved. Breakfast was good but we had to wait both days for the food to be topped up as there’s only one waiter trying to do everything. The room was large and bed was comfy. The bathroom was not good no water pressure so water came out very slowly and not very hot. Shower unit was very noisy and no heating for such a big bathroom apart from a towel rail so it was...

'Was a fantastic stay with friendly staff who looked after us. Absolutely one of the best stays on an hotel. Food also was excellent. Both me and my wife would recommend the Gateway.'

'Many trafic a lot of noise'

'On check in, we had to vacate our room due to plumbing issues along the whole corridor. We had to wait another hour before our new room was ready, which was fine as it was out of their control to a degree. Our only complaint was that we had to ask for a complimentary drink or similar whilst we were waiting.....they should've offered that immediately, guests shouldn't have to ask, it's the least they can do! Other than that it was a pleasant stay.'

'We used the Hare & hounds as a stopover on our way home but will give serious consideration to returning to explore the Lakes from there'

'Lovely room. We booked the dog friendly room and we had dog bowls, and a doggy treat pack including toy, treats & poo bags. Nice little touch! Great food as always, lovely full English breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.'

'Exceptional stay! Beautiful breakfast, great location and very clean! Would highly recommend.'
