'Sir John himself was waiting for us at the apartment complex as we arrived and even helped us carrying our small suitcase up the two flights of stairs. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, had good WiFi, a nice shower and was well equipped. We were not too enamored by the city of Rijeka, but if you choose to stay there, Sir John's Rooms is a safe bet!'

There was a washing machine but no washing pods left, even though when speaking to a lady in another apartment in the block (rented by Number 1) she’d been left pods. We’d been travelling for a month so needed a washing machine, which is why we’d booked this specific accommodation. 'Great location and wonderful room'

'Lovely renovated apartment in old building with the fresh market right outside your door every day. Up one floor, so not good for mobility impaired. But modern appliances, spotless, everything electric, and laundry. No dryer. I used the heated towel rack to dry my clothes and it worked nicely after rolling out excess water in a towel. Just around the corner from the historic Theatre and blocks away from the marina. Close to restaurants, shopping, and of course, ice cream. Definitely walkable. '

'Pros: great location. Few mins from city center. Clean room for the most part. It also has stuff that you need to survive like microwave, plates and other appliances. Things that can be better: there are ants - only a few but noticable. The room is on 4th floor - do not book it if you have luggage. Also, the shower slit remains a bit open so water spills out.'

'New, clean property and rooms were clean. The rooms are incredibly small like NYC small. What makes up for the small room was the staff. Mary was exceptional, friendly, helpful and delightful! Erin was friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious!!!'

'Quick communication with the host. Loved the laundry facility in the middle of our 2 week vacation. Clean apartment. Nearby parking lot was very convenient. Excellent burek one block away, across from grocery store. I will crave the cherry strudel forever.'

'Located right at the start of the Jadranska Mgistrala, this is a great place to start a trip on the iconic road. The rooms are basic, befitting of the communist era building, which retains its original charm. Lovely breakfast included. Staff all very good. I would stay here again.'

'I am not satisfied with their service. I booked a deluxe room and the air conditioning is not working. I was on the 3rd floor and they downgrade my room to 1st floor. They told me there is nothing available. I was really upset and I ask if I can upgrade my room with extra money. But they kept telling me it’s not available except for the room in the 1 st floor. Will not go back to this hotel.'

'Fabulous hotel with all the required amenities; nice spa and outdoor/indoor pool, phenomenal access to the beach/Adriatic sea; great chairs/beach towels; beautifully landscaped property. Spacious room with spectacular views. Excellent breakfast. Access to the extensive boardwalk in Opatija. Amazing value for money.'
