The house was adequate. It was very clean, though it had a slightly musty smell upon arrival. Opening the windows solved that problem quickly. The kitchen has been nicely updated but other parts of the house felt dated and there were a few amenities that could have made the stay more comfortable, for example kitchen dish towels, and a new shower head for the hallway bathroom. The patio furniture was also pretty rickety. The host did provide a brand new sponge, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils. The pots and pans were very worn, however. There were a few light bulbs that had burned out and the water heater must have been set pretty low, because our showers were lukewarm at best. The shower in the primary bedroom was tiny, but there was also an ADA-compliant shower in another bathroom that was huge. The host did provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in a dispenser in each of the showers. The mattresses were very firm, but the pillows were soft and fluffy. The location was fairly convenient to day tripping to Yosemite. The main visitors center was a one-and-a-half-hour drive. You could be to the grove of giant sequoias in 45 minutes, however we visited in March and the road to the grove had not been opened for spring yet. Overall, the house was adequate to our needs and provided a good launch point for our adventures.
